The NFL officially released the 2019 schedule for all 32 teams on Wednesday, and though the graphic the league used to announce it is an eyesore, there are some great matchups to look forward to. The Saints and Rams get a rematch of last year’s controversial NFC Championship in Week 2. The Patriots and Chiefs get their rematch in Week 14. The Lions and Cardinals are playing in Week 1—which I’m sure someone cares about!

Of course, as with any football-related news, it’s important to note the winners and losers of what just happened. The winners are the New England Patriots, and the losers are the rest of the teams in the league because none of them have it as easy as Tom Brady and the rest of New England. This is clearly the only way to interpret these strength of schedule rankings that are always 100 percent correct and never dependent on potential injuries, declines in form, or the acts of a cruel god that torment your team.

Only 141 more days until this terrible, terrible league starts up again! Woohoo!

The schedule is essentially predetermined, with the exception of two games with other teams in your conference with the same finish in their division. In the Patriots case, that would be teams that finished in first place.

6 games vs division
4 games vs AFC division
4 games vs NFC division

All 14 of those games have predetermined sites

Two games vs other 1st place teams. One home, one away, the league makes those choices

I think the Pat's got fucked out of hosting opening night. Guess Roger gets to do what he wants when he wants. It's OK, my daughter and I will be there Sunday night to celebrate another banner

I'm trying to wrap my head around any logic that would conclude the original statement. Unfortunately, it's absurd. How in the world could 31 teams all get screwed? Logically, there would have to be some beneficiaries.

WTF. The Bucs are not at RAYJ from September 23 to November 9–
The Bucs play the Giants at home on Sept. 22 then don’t play another home game until they host the Cardinals on Nov. 10. Between then they play at Los Angeles (Rams), New Orleans, Tennessee, Seattle, and they play the Panthers in London so they get the bye after that.

Colts play 3 prime time games.

All on road including Thanksgiving night.

As we all know schedule is made, yesterday was just about dates and times.

If they do what I tell them on draft night, should be a team ready to make another step. They are close to having the best defense in franchise history and combine that with Andrew Luck and it could be a 12-4 year

Actually the patriots will play 3 teams this season who are coming off of byes so that is extra rest for the opponent.
They will also playing in 95 degree heat in miami in week 2. Too bad my dolphins will stink this season

Im pretty sure the Eagles got pretty screwed. But some of the gripes even out. Good little write up on it...

[h=1]Pros and cons of the Eagles’ 2019 schedule[/h]40

[h=2]Some good, some really bad ...[/h]
The Eagles’ 2019 schedule is out (click here) and my first impression is ... there is some good and some bad. Let’s take a closer looks at those pros and cons.
[h=1]PROS[/h]
  • The Eagles open their season at home against Washington. I like kicking off the season against an NFC East rival. A Week 1 division win has the potential to set a nice tone for the season, just as it did for the Eagles in 2017. Also doesn’t hurt to ease into the year by facing Case Keenum.
  • After flying home from Buffalo on October 27, the Eagles will only have to board a plane twice in the final nine weeks: the three-hour flight to Miami and then back home.
  • The Eagles have three straight home games: Week 9, Week 11, Week 12. Including their Week 10 bye, that’s four consecutive weeks they won’t have to leave Philly.
  • The Eagles have a chance to get hot at the right time with the following final five games: at Dolphins, versus Giants, at Washington, versus Cowboys, at Giants. If Philly can weather tougher stretches earlier in the season, they’ll have a nice opportunity to make a playoff push with a strong finish.
  • It’s not like MetLife Stadium has been a tough place for the Eagles to play but it’s good that a potentially meaningless Week 17 game against the Giants takes place on the road instead of at home. It could mean that there’s only seven road games that truly matter.
  • The Eagles don’t play any teams coming off Thursday Night Football (10 days rest).
  • The Eagles have extra rest heading into their Week 5 game against the Jets since they play on Thursday Night Football in Week 4.
  • A Week 10 bye is preferable to that wacky Week 4 bye the Eagles had in 2016.
  • The Eagles have at least five primetime games for the third year in a row. It’s always nice to see games being more accessible to Eagles fans across the world.
[h=1]CONS[/h]
  • The Eagles are one of two NFL clubs that’ll have to play three teams coming off their bye: the Jets in Week 5, the Patriots in Week 11, and the Seahawks in Week 12. The silver lining is that two of those are AFC East teams and interconference games are the least important games on the schedule. Also, the Patriots and Eagles have a bye on the same weekend so it’s not like New England will have extra rest over Philly. But it also means the Eagles won’t have a bye that gives them a rest advantage over an opponent.
  • The Eagles are the only team in the NFL that has to play three straight road games: at Vikings, at Cowboys, at Bills. Playing three straight weeks on the road isn’t easy. An October 2017 post from Niners Nation shows that teams were 35-69 straight up in their third straight road game over the last decade.
  • The Eagles have a short week on the road against an already tough opponent in the Packers. It’s their fifth road Thursday Night Football game in six years. By comparison, the Cowboys have played ZERO Thursday road games on short rest in the same stretch. This is exactly why the Eagles originally proposed making Dallas play on the road on Thanksgiving every other year. The NFL continues to give the Cowboys a completely unnecessary and unfair advantage. And, Cowboys fans, you can shut up about the “but Dallas has to play three games in 11 days!” So what? None of the teams they’re playing have a rest advantage over them.
  • Having to play the Patriots and Seahawks in back-to-back weeks seems pretty tough on paper.
  • The Eagles will be at a rest disadvantage in Week 15 against Washington after playing the Giants on Monday Night Football in Week 14.
  • The Eagles don’t play any teams coming off Monday Night Football the week before.
[h=1]OVERALL[/h]BGN alumnus Jimmy Kempski said it well:

Replying to @JimmyKempski

The Eagles have to face 3 teams (the Jets, Patriots, and Seahawks) coming off their bye week, they have a Thursday road game for the 5th time in the last 6 years, and they have three consecutive weeks in which they have to play on the road. The trifecta of bad scheduling.

3 teams off a bye week is a bad beat for NE but 6 of their first 7 opponents are some of the worst teams in the league. Schedule gets significantly harder 2nd half of the year but at that point obviously a lot of teams have faded/haven't met expectations.

Clearly the Eagles and Cowboys have nice schedules. They get to play the AFC east and then the 2 other teams in their own division 2x. So 7 games vs most of the worst teams in the league.

Its simple. The country is getting dumbed down by the day... but hey it’s ok as long as we accept everyone

Schedule shouldn't matter for Tampa Bay. The Bucs have a coach for every player...almost.

It does’t matter who they have. As predicted Jameis Winston has ruined their team. Top 5 pick guaranteed in the 2020 draft. They need to build their o line and try to tank to get Lawrence.

if I owned a team I would tank and build my non skill positions now because you can have the best o line and d line in football and still go 2-14 if the skill sucks. look at joe Thomas. One of the best left tackles ever and never had a winning season.

Off the top of my head it seems like the Falcons don't play outdoors until mid November. They only play 3 total games outdoors.

The jets play every game in the eastern time zone.

Not necessarily good or bad, but very interesting.

The Colts are on the verge of having a potentially good to solid defense. If you have that and Andrew Luck then good things happen. Luck by himself will get you 30 a game. If defense can just hold teams to 2 td's and 2 fg's on average then good things happen.

Colts should get at least 3 starters out of this draft

I am telling them with the 26th and 34th picks to go edge, D lineman or corner. Highly defensive draft and defensive players will fall late in first as teams will be trading back into the first to try to get Daniel Jones and/or Grier. Tons of options. Ed Oliver, Greedy Wiliams, (not a big fan of that Clelin Ferrel guy as skinny pass rushers dont seem to do well), Wilkins, Tillery.

They need to learn from past mistakes. You realize during the Manning years the colts took a running back in the first round 3 times. It was always about getting Manning an extra weapon. Dallas Clark, Reggie Wayne, Gonzales, Addai, Brown, James. And then Jan 26th would come at 6 PM and all of a sudden the colts couldn't score 30 points a game as usual because THEY DIDNT HAVE A DEFENSE.

When you have a great quarterback and currently Andrew Luck is easily a top 5 quarterback, if he is protected no matter who he has as a receiver will get theirs. This past year as an example. Eric Ebron was considered a bust in Detroit. In 2018 he caught double digit TD's. Who was the Colts #2 receiver last year? Anyone know? Dontrelle Inman?? Chester Rogers? Ryan Grant? Those guys combined to catch over a 100 balls. Would be nobodys if they played on dog shit teams. Point is. If Luck is protected, he will get his.

So we are going defense at 26 and 32. BUT the colts need a right guard. Surprised the Colts ride guard problem has not been leading CBS evening news. At 59, the Colts really need to get a starting RG to fill out the line. If that position gets solidified, should be good OR Left tackle. But a great left tackle which is the easiest position to scout is hard to find at pick 59.

So we now have 2 defensive starters added to a good young defense and another lineman to protect Luck ( likely a right guard)

Also at this point, they should be looking to trade up if a solid left tackle is falling. For teams that have quarterbacks, draft is much easier because teams want to trade up so much to get a qb so you can sit around and use that as leverage.

Late 3rd round pick around 90 should be used on possibly a TE or #2 receiver. But NOT a running back. Honestly this is kind of a wild card pick. If the first 3 picks go my way and pan out then anything but a RB here is good.

Bottom line. If you have a protected Luck with an above average defense, you will win in late Jan.

Well damn, that’s a blueprint.

What about Adam Isabella though? 4.3 speed and the type of cortex you’re looking for.
