Costa Rican company Vertical CR is currently waiting for permission from the Ministry of Health to be able to commercialize its health products based on medicinal marijuana.
The company offers oils, lotions, pills, among other products for human use and even for dogs all of them using marijuana for medicinal purposes, eliminating THC, the chemical responsible for most of marijuana’s psychological effects.
The leaves and buds of marijuana plants contain cannabinoids which have medicinal properties that help in the treatment of symptoms of several illnesses such as arthritis, cancer, sleep disorders, muscle pain, rheumatism, among others.
Vertical CR presented the necessary documentation at the beginning of the year to the Ministry of Health requesting the corresponding permits, however, the Health authority requested additional information which must be presented by June.
“We based our request on the list of requirements of the Ministry when it comes to organic products, but they asked for additional data. We had to do testing and analysis in the United States which is expensive. Next week we will begin translating the documents and turning in the information the first weeks of May”, explained Gerald Murray (Vertical CR CEO)
The Ministry of Health will have to decide if they approve or reject the request to commercialize these products.
The Legislative Assembly in Costa Rica also has pending the analysis of a bill that promotes the legal production and selling of cannabis and hemp for medicinal purposes to help improve the quality of life of people that suffer from illnesses that can find relief in this natural medication.
