I never tried to bring back anything,but while being wheeled to the security gate,i was putting the oils from my bottle under my tongue like crazy until it was empty, and no one ever questioned me even the person pushing my wheelchair.They just took me through the security ADA section and then to my gate,..i had so much liquid under my tongue,but i was not going to waste what i had left,and i also did it to make sure i sleep on the plane.
It would be pretty hard to get a DUI off of that ,dude ! There is no easy way for cops to measure your THC level, nor even a set standard intoxication level, go ahead and drive unless you feel impaired by the edibles.
I'd be more concerned about carrying on edibles than packing an ounce in checked bags ! I'd guess worst case , TSA just confiscates it and it probably winds up in their cookie jar in the break room ?

As to driving on edibles, let Texansfan address that, he knows better, at least how it's done in Tejas, which should be similar to the rest of the country.
That would work most of time, but not exactly a great idea to mail yourself half a kilo of coke, and your both the shipper and receiver... That sounds borderline stupid to think this technique would go undetected 1,000 out of a 1,000 times.
I expect to meet with my daughter tomorrow, she's very involved with FedEx ground, at contractor level, not corporate level. She will tell me what measures are taken to the thwart this, but I guarantee you this much, you haven't stumbled upon some genius concept, nobody else ever thought of !

Every pot dealer I know in Florida (and I know plenty) has product shipped in under 2 lb packages from out west.
For a non-dealer it is even less risky legally. FedEx and UPS handle approx 20 million packages every 24 hours and frankly have no motivation to impede shipments of *anything* unless there is a concern for physical safety (hazardous chemicals, explosives etc).
If your friend tells you they have some kind of system that can impede shipments of illicit substances sealed in packaging that defies scent-detecting dogs, she is lying
