DJ Uiagaleles, the number one quarterback recruit for 2020 has committed to Clemson.
Uiagaleles, who is from Bellflower, California committed to the Tigers on Sunday. Nice
pickup for Dabo, considering he has Trevor Lawrence as a starter.

Wonder if he will redshirt because Trevor is a Jr. that year and this isn't like a Kelly Bryant situation. No one is beating out Trevor Lawrence.

That DJ Ugawhatever was behind another high profile qb I thought. It was on 1 of those Prime or Netflix shows

Clemson is up to something. They will go on a 5-7 year run and then will be found to be cheating just like USC.

You get the #1 QB in the country to come and play clear across the country yet when he gets there will have huge expectations or whatever and he will not play immediately.

Its Like Mark Sanchez and Matt Leinart

When you consider that Clemson's recruiting classes have ranked 16th, 9th, 11th, 16th and 7th the
past five years, I don't believe cheating has anything to do with their success. With those good but
not great recruiting classes, the Tigers have gone 55-4 in its last 4 seasons, including 4 straight Playoff
berths, 4 straight ACC titles and 2 national championships. Dabo runs a clean program and he and
his staff have simply outcoached other coaches with equal or better players.

They also get to play in the ACC weekly. They are a top program...but tougher weekly competition is a huge plus for them right now.

Top recruits go to schools to win national championships and then go into the NFL.
They will travel across country for that opportunity.

Currently, Clemson is rated No. 1 in recruiting for the class of 2020 thanks to four
five-star recruits. The quarterback is from California, the running back and corner-
back are from Florida and the defensive tackle is from Maryland.

Alabama's starting quarterback is from Hawaii, the starting running back is from
California, and its star receiver is from Florida.

Kids love winning programs especially those who play for championships.

Post #4- Spot on. ELITE football program, with a good but weaker conference (I would love to see Miami and FSU become ELITE again as the conference would be better)

Post #5- Mostly agree, but I would say in the first sentence that "many top recruits" and would change the first word in your last sentence to "many kids". I would say those 4 and 5 star players who go to Alabama (and not from Alabama) go there to win nattys and go to the NFL (not knocking your school here). But top recruits who go to Northwestern, UCLA, Purdue, Washington, (and many more schools) dont have "winning" and "going to the nfl" as their #1 priority when choosing a school

Top recruits (5-star) was the topic of Post #5. The past 5 years, the average number 5-star recruits is
31.8 according to 247Sports. There ain't many of them in any given year, that's why they are considered
the top recruits.

During the past two years, Northwestern, Purdue, Washington nor UCLA have signed a 5-star recruit.
Northwestern, Purdue and Washington haven't signed one the past 5 years. UCLA signed two during
the 2017 recruiting cycle.

Looks like Clemson is about to sign another one. A top defensive end has narrow to Clemson and Auburn.
The Tigers now have player commits from Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, Kentucky, Texas, California, North
Carolina, Maryland, Washington, D.C. and South Carolina. Wonder why?

I get ya.

I just looked at ESPN'S 5 star recruits for 2019. There were only 14 of them (according to ESPN).

A 5 star recruit has a 90 grade of above.

This is where they went

1) Oregon- they went 9-4 last year and 7-6 before that.
2) UGA- championship mode
3) TexAm- Same record as Oregon the past 2 years
4) Bama- championship mode
5) Tenn- 5-7 last year. 4-8 the year before. Didnt even make a bowl
6) Oklahoma- championship mode
7) Bama- championship mode
8- Auburn- 8-5 last year. 10-4 the year before (half a championship mode lets say)
9) Tenn- see team 5 above
10) Ohio State- championship mode
11) LSU- 10-3 and 9-4 the past 2 years (half a championship mode)
12) Sparty- 7-6 last year 10-3 the year before (half a championship mode)
13) Mich- 10-3 last year 8-5 the year before that (half a championship mode)
14) Georgia- championship mode

Out of those 14 players, 6 players are going to teams that made the CFP in the prior 2 years.
4 are going to a team that won 10 games in 1 of the past 2 season
2 are going to to a team that had not won 10 games in the past 2 seasons
2 are going to a team that hasnt made a bowl in the past 2 seasons.

So 8 of those 14 players are going to teams that DID not make the CFP last season

Again, this was according to ESPN.
I'm wondering how many 5 star players (in the 2019 recruiting class) chose a team that went to the CFP in the past 2 seasons?
More than 2/3? Without looking, i say no (but could be wrong)

I really dont think winning championships is top priority for a bunch of 5 star recruits. Going to the NFL is most likely the number 1 priority for them

Believe me, that's what we'd all prefer. it's just that Clemson was on the wrong side of the line when the Southern Conference split in 1933. Its natural rivals -- the current power 5 teams that Clemson started playing in its first five years of existence at the end of the 19th century -- were South Carolina, Georgia, UNC, Georgia Tech, Auburn, NC State, Virginia Tech, Alabama, and Tennessee. I'd be happy if we played them all every year, or even just five or six of them. These days with the giant conference schedules, we don't even get to play our rivals that are in our conference every year.

Northwestern did get a 5* as a transfer from Clemson. I would not sell NW short the next couple years.

But your point is well-taken. UGA signed six 5*'s the class before last, and Clemson is looking to match if we can pull in Murphy and Burch, who are the top two SDE's nationally and the top players in GA and SC respectively.

To be honest, Bresee and DJ are the top guys, but Bowman and (if we get him) Murphy will be the biggest recruiting coups considering where they come from.
