On May 8, the New York Giants joined their co-tenants, the New York Jets and the Buffalo Bills in a letter of petition to the New York State Senate’s Racing, Gaming and Wagering Committee raising their concerns about legalized sports gambling.

The three teams — two of which are based in New Jersey, where sports gambling is already legal — sent the letter on behalf of the NFL outlining their major concerns of how gambling can affect the integrity of their sport and their business.

“While we respect the Court’s ruling, the absence of clear and enforceable legal standards for sports betting threatens the integrity of our nation’s professional and amateur sporting contests,” the letter reads. “There is no greater priority for the NFL than protecting the integrity of our sport and the welfare of our players.”

From vegasslotsonline.com:

The league wants four key standards to be considered. These are: a regulated and legal environment for sports betting with proper consumer protections; intellectual property and content protection; fans’ access to official data; and enough resources to monitor and enforce all issues relating to illegal sports betting.

The NBA and MLB also made similar arguments in the state. These leagues were also calling for the restriction of certain types of prop bets.

On Monday, May 13, sports betting bill S 17 advanced through the committee on a unanimous vote. The bill is now headed to the Senate Finance Committee.

The Giants literally play next to the facility where you can gamble legally (FanDuel).

Who freaking cares?

Lmao@ “There is no greater priority for the NFL than protecting the integrity of our sport and the welfare of our players.”

What a joke the NFL is when it says stuff like this.......where was their integrity in the Saints/Rams playoff game? The NFL has no integrity period!

Without sports betting the NFL would have 1/2 empty stadiums. Betting has driven the sport to what it is today. If you could magically end betting on College Bowl games. Those 39 College Bowl games would shrink to about 5-6. ESPN viewership would drop to unsustainable levels, the sponsors would pull out and that would end most of those lame bowls. Both the NFL and NCAA are so clueless. They need sports betting more than sports betting needs them.

With the internet and smartphones today; it's a full blown joke that sports gambling is tried to be stopped.
I read as article that ranked all the states as to when they might pas legal sports wagering and it said for Virginia 2020.... For whatever reason I would bet a month's take home pay it will NOT! At least on the scale of Nevada, NJ or even Delaware.

If fans of the team decide to bet on the Jets or Giants then they're not gonna have $ leftover for a $10 beer or hot dog.

So the concern is legitimate IMO.
