What's the old saying...Defense wins championships? Here's some list of
projected top defenses for 2019.

of these defenses will not give up a lot of points.

Great defenses are aided by great offenses. Early big leads make the other team almost one dimensional.
I am surprised Michigan State isn't mentioned in any list. That will put a chip on their shoulder! Right where Dantonio wants it. Their offense was decimated by injuries last year yet their defense held strong. Should be good this year even with secondary turnover if the offense stays healthy and has much better production.

Don Brown at Michigan and Venable at Clemson are great DC's. Brown has an old school "attack", "attack" "attack". Ohio State figured him out with their superior speed and he didn't see it coming. I believe he needs to be a little more versatile, should have seen how Purdue defensed the Buckeyes with a more prevent rather than attacking D. Buckeyes lived on big pass plays.

Venable is brilliant, in my mind. He set up Bama showing one defense, knowing the audible they would use, and then had players there for an INT. Game changer!

Cal's defense was pretty good last year and with 8 starters returning have a chance to be even
better this season. Eight of the top ten tacklers return including a linebacker who was second
in the nation in tackles. The D also returns the entire secondary who were second in the nation
in interceptions during 2018. These guys have a chance to be damn stingy in the Pac 12 again
this year.

LOL....where do they get these lists? Mississippi State lost a TON of defensive talent and they will get the shit kicked out of them this year.

I suggest a play against Miss. St. in EVERY game after week five.
