Efforts to legalize marijuana in New York take big hit in state Senate

The top backer of legalizing marijuana in New York, Manhattan state Sen. Liz Krueger, admitted defeat Wednesday, after days of contentious negotiations between moderate and liberal Democrats failed to produce a last minute breakthrough.

“This is not the end of the road, it is only a delay,” Krueger tweeted Wednesday morning.

Efforts to legalize pot got hung up on three key issues: the ability for cities and counties to opt out, how the tax revenues would be spent and questions over how to prevent ‘driving while stoned’.

Yet they made sure to pass the ability for illegals to get drivers licenses. NY is in a race with California to see who is the shittiest state in the country!

To address the "driving while stoned"....

My buddy who invented a product and goes to a ton of entrepreneur seminars where you see all these new ideas people are coming up with and what not. He was telling me of a woman he met who invented some glasses that you can put on someone that does a quick scan of their pupils and measures everything from redness to dilation and comes up with a number on how stoned you are. Not sure how far along this product is but obviously she is getting a bunch of attention from law enforcement.

She could make it real hard for a driver who gets stopped to pass a field sobriety test.
