It’s enough to make Lady Liberty blush.

New York has been named the second-least patriotic state in a recent survey — with neighboring New Jersey the only one to come out worse.

The WalletHub survey — released just a week before Independence Day — compared all 50 states based on two key characteristics: military and civic engagement.

To get there, the personal finance site created a weighted average based on 13 metrics, including military enlistment, number of veterans, voting records, jury service and volunteering.

New Hampshire shone through as the most patriotic, followed by Wyoming, Vermont, Utah and Idaho.

The Empire State came in a dismal 49th, the same spot it landed in for military engagement, in part from having the fewest veterans per capita, with just 54 per 1,000 adults — compared to 127 in Alaska.

New Yorkers also came across as duds at volunteering, with the fourth-lowest rate. Florida was the worst.

Still, New York beat out the Garden State, which came last overall — just edging out New York with military engagement but dropping spots for lousy civic engagement.

WalletHub also noted that red states average out to be more patriotic than their blue counterparts.

The least civic, the most self-centered. It is one of the all-time great ironies of liberalism. The people who tend to think government is the solution tend to give less themselves because it's government's job. There was only one study on it, research done by a self described liberal professor at Syracuse who wrote a book about it. He said he was "surprised" by the results, but conservatives tend to be more generous people and tend to give more money and more time and more blood for charitable purposes.

FWIW

Oh yeah. I am sure I come across as a typical New Yorker.

Go get your tattoo and perish. Your type has been killing the country

Speaking of tattoos, do you have to wear a hat most of the time to cover the swastika on your forehead, or do you proudly display it everywhere?

These are the most patriotic states in America:

With the Fourth of July just around the corner, patriotism is in the air, particularly in New Hampshire.

According to a new report from WalletHub, the Granite State is the most patriotic among the 50 U.S. states this year. Following New Hampshire are: Wyoming, Vermont, Utah and Idaho.

In order to assess which states were the most patriotic, WalletHub looked at 13 metrics across two main dimensions: military engagement and civic engagement.

The metrics included veterans per 1,000 civilian adults, active-duty military personnel per 100,000 civilian adults, share of adults who voted in 2016 presidential election and volunteer hours per resident.

According to the study, Maine was the state with the highest percentage of adults who voted in the 2016 presidential election, while Hawaii had the lowest percentage.

The state with the most veterans per capita was Alaska while New York was the state with the least. WalletHub also found that Georgia had the highest average number of military enlistees while North Dakota had the lowest average.

The report also found that states that voted Republican in the 2016 presidential election are more patriotic than states that voted Democrat.

Each metric was given a specific weight and each state was ranked against the other states based on its weighted average.

Here are the top 10 most patriotic states in the U.S., according to WalletHub:

1. New Hampshire

2. Wyoming

3. Vermont

4. Utah

5. Idaho

6. Wisconsin

7. Alaska

8. South Carolina

9. Missouri

10. Minnesota

The criteria seem a bit erratic, maybe veterans can't afford to live in NY ,and go elsewhere.

Jury duty is for fools, or those that want a break from their real job at full pay.

I can see NH topping the list...

New Hampshire is a great state no sales tax . Minimal social services . No fault car insurance. Truly a hidden gem.
