Food, goods and services drive Costa Rica inflation

Costa Rica recorded inflation of 0.27% in June, which brought the consumer price index for the last 12 months to 2.42%, close to the target set for the year, the official statistics agency reported Friday.
Accumulated inflation in the first six months of 2019 reached 0.96%, according to the National Institute of Statistics and Census (INEC).
The year-over-year accumulated of 2.42% is close to the inflation target of 3% set by the Central Bank for the year.
According to INEC, the groups that recorded the highest price increases were those of various goods and services (1.47%), and food and non-alcoholic beverages (0.86%).
Other sectors registered a negative variation of prices, such as clothing and footwear (-0.42%), and entertainment and culture (-0.27%).
