[h=1]A Texas grandmother fell three years ago. Her daughter let her decay on the floor, police say[/h]
Police have arrested a Texas woman who they say has lived with her mother's decaying remains in plain view for the past three years.
Investigators believe Jacqueline Crayton fell in the house she shared with her daughter and disabled granddaughter in 2016. Her daughter did not tend to her non-life-threatening injuries, police said in a Facebook post, resulting in Crayton dying on a bedroom floor at the age of 71.

Police found Crayton's remains last week while conducting a Child Protective Services investigation at the home where her daughter and granddaughter still live, Seguin Police Chief Terry Nichols said at a press conference.
Delissa Crayton, 49, is facing a felony charge of injury to a child under 15 because police believe her daughter suffered from living in the two-bedroom home with her grandmother's decomposing corpse

While her grandmother decayed in one of the bedrooms, the teenage daughter shared the other bedroom with her mother, police said. The teenager has been placed with family members, police said.

Would think the 15 year old would tell someone.

The fact the CPS was involved in something unrelated speaks volumes.

it is a lot to deal with. it would mean the end of the woman's s.s. checks direct deposited into the dead woman's account which the daughter would have no problem writing checks on. once you don't report it to the proper authorities it gets harder to get around to it as time goes by and she needed those checks so i hope at least she threw a heavy tarp over the body while waiting to get it small enough to dispose of herself. which was probably the eventual plan which she didn't get time to execute it. it appears that the daughter needed those checks to survive. easier to do now with the direct deposit systems they made mandatory. calling an ambulance when she fell and there goes the check to a nursing home or funeral home. she thought outside the box.

unlikely there would have been any coffin purchased with the 255.00 s.s. would have paid her for burial. so there would have been no funeral or burial here. actually what she did made pure economic sense. except the part where she couldn't figure out what to do with the body is where she went wrong.

obviously i was just making light of this. i can hear the conversation the daughter and grand daughter had when she fell. daughter to her daughter " the old bag just fell and it looks like she broke her hip. if we call an ambulance they will come and shanghai her into a nursing home if she's lucky. that will spell doom for us as they will definitely take her entire social security check from now to eternity." but mother, says the grand daughter " it's gramma for chriissakes, we should do something" we are honey. "we're going to keep our mouths shut about this since i already have power of attorney and control of her bank account and we cannot afford to have those checks not get direct deposited into her account. now take your smart phone which was paid for with those checks and go to your room and i'll smother her to death with this heavy tarp. she's toast anyway no matter what we do and there is no way we are going to end up homeless". luckily, she paid off the house as old and run down as it is but it is livable". " do you really want to change schools and live in a shelter. no, mother. i'll keep my mouth shut. don't fret"
