San Diego at Miami: San Diego-144....

The Marlins will send Trevor Richards to the mound while The Padres will start Chris Paddack for game two. Richards has had a terrible season record-wise, 3-10, but his ERA is 4.18. While this number is not great, he has shown flashes of some dominant pitching. In his last start, Richards gave up six hits and four earned runs in five innings, leading to a 4-3 loss to the Atlanta Braves.

Paddack comes into this game with a record of 5-4. His earned run average is 2.84, which is great for a rookie. The Padres have now lost four in a row after the game one meltdown, but still have the talent to make this one interesting. The Marlins do not seem to provide much run support for Richards, so I do not like their chances against a guy like Paddack.

Miami is just playing out the string, and they’re just 2-8 in their last ten games. Offensively, Miami is one of the worst teams in the league. The team’s .241 batting average is 25th in the league. Their .298 on-base percentage is 27th, while their .361 slugging percentage is 30th in the league. The 324 runs they have scored is also 30th in the league. San Diego isn't that much better, but at least better than the Marlins, and that is all that counts, Offensively, San Diego hasn’t played very well. The team’s .242 batting average is 23rd in the league. Their .308 on-base percentage is 25th, while their .428 slugging percentage is 19th in the league. The 411 runs they have scored is 20th in the league.

The Marlins haven’t played well in the last two weeks and have lost eight of their last 10 games. They have also struggled with Richards on the mound, losing his last four home starts. The Padres have played well on the road, winning five of their last six games. They have also played well against right-handed starters, winning their last four games against them....
