This sucks. Never heard of cancelling because of the heat before. I think the problems at Santa Anita overlayed with the increasingly big thumb of PETA have got horsemen spooked.

They cancelled racing at Belmont once or twice last year so it does and has happened.

The last time an entire racing card was canceled at Saratoga because of extreme heat was Aug. 2, 2006, when temperatures rose to the upper 90s and the heat index measured as high as 110 degrees.

Parx once cancelled a few years ago due to either racoons or squirrels in the infield..Forget which it was. Yeah, nothing surprises me in racing anymore. Heat could be an issue.

Because of heat?

By order of the Stewards, the New York Racing Association, Inc. (NYRA) has canceled Sunday's live racing card due to extreme heat.

NYRA made every effort to run today's card as scheduled. A spike in afternoon temperatures prior to the first post made conditions unsuitable for racing.

Belmont Café and Aqueduct Racetrack will remain open for simulcasting. Online wagering is also available at NYRABets.com.

That's a shame because if I was up there my horse naturally would have won. No problem, I'm taking a private jet up to Nova Scotia to see a total eclipse of the sun.

Make sure you take that private jet down in Saratoga today on your way to getting totally eclipsed tomorrow.
