Miami Hurricanes +7.5 (-115), 1 unit:
Hurricanes get a big boost from me with Richt leaving. That team quit on him last year and they won't do the same with Diaz. New OC should bring a more creative, exciting offense and they certainly have options at QB and talent all over the field. They also have a lot of talent coming back on D and have outstanding LB talent. Gators have to replace a lot of players and are getting too much credit for beating Michigan in their bowl game. Michigan didn't care and a lot of their top players sat that game out. I think Florida wins but more than a TD is too many points.

Hawai'i Rainbow Warriors +11, 1 unit:
Trips to the island are never easy. Rainbow Warriors have 18 players returning on a team that was very competitive last year. In a game with two offenses that can score from anywhere I will take the more experienced home team getting double digits.

Cincinnati Bearcats -2.5, 1 unit:
Take the names off the jerseys and then tell me what the line is on this game. Bearcats are tough, physical, and experienced. They are my early favorite for the Group of Five bid and they get a chance to make a statement at home, at night against a big name team in a game a lot of people will be watching to start Week 1 of the season. The Bruins will start a relatively inexperienced QB and are not in a position to compete with the toughness of the Bearcats. Chip Kelly's team will be improved this year and this game will help them down the road but a small number with the home team is the side for me.

BYU Cougars +5.5, 1 unit: The Utes are a playoff contender this year. They're tough, they will be improved on offense and always have a good defense and special teams. Whittingham is one of the best coaches in the country. However, they have to go to Provo for a game that is almost always close. Even though Utah has won 8 in a row in this series all but one have been decided by 8 points or less. I'm not a fan of trends but I am a fan of recognizing too many points in a rivalry game. The Cougars realize that this is an excellent spot for a team returning 17 starters and they will absolutely have maximum focus. Sitake is turning this program around. It started with a win at Wisconsin and even though they came back to Earth after that, inserting Wilson was a game changer for this program. Tough environment, rivalry game, one team looking to end a long losing streak and even though I really like the Utes this year, BYU is the play in this one.

Thank you everyone for the kind words and thoughts. Adding one tonight:

8/29/2019 (2-0, +2.00)

Texas State Bobcats and Texas A&M Aggies o57, 1 unit:
A few things....I rarely play totals and when I do it is almost always an under play. This one was given to me by someone who I know to be a very sharp player who has connections to the A&M program. Allegedly....and again I did not hear this first hand so this is alleged....A&M wants to run this thing up. Apparently there is a huge beef between the two coaches and programs and Jimbo wants to put up a big number. I've done no research on this and am playing based on the information given to me.

8/30/2019 (2-0, +2.00....with three plays on 8/29 pending)

Wisconsin Badgers -10 (-120), 1 unit:
Full disclosure, I am a Badgers alum and fan. Rarely do I bet on my team. I cannot pass at this number. Last year was a mess for Wisconsin at every spot on the field except RB. I think that will actually pay dividends this year. All accounts say Coan has played very well in camp and has become a real leader. All of the inexperienced players that played on the D Line and in the secondary this year are back and are well...more experienced. There is a huge size advantage on both lines for the Badgers and in typical Wisconsin fashion they will run it early and often. The Bulls have a new offensive coordinator and I think it will take some time for them to put things together. Slightly worried about the heat and being on the road but the Badgers should wear South Florida out and win by double digits.

Thanks indy....you as well!!

8/31/2019 (2-0, +2.00....with 8/29 and 8/30 plays pending)

Virginia Cavaliers -2.5, 1 unit:
Cavaliers are a team I really like this year. Mendenhall enters his fourth year so the vast majority of the players are his and they have 14 starters returning. Perkins does a nice job under center and their defense is always tough. The Panthers were basically smoke and mirrors last year, they lose their top two backs and four OLinemen. Virginia has their sights set on winning the Coastal and they need this one to have a good chance of making that happen.

Northwestern Wildcats +6, 1 unit: Two good, tough defenses. Cardinal return only nine starters while the Wildcats only return twelve. The big differences for me are Pat Fitzgerald and Hunter Johnson. Fitzgerald consistently does more with less and is one of the best in the country. He finally has a legitimate weapon in Johnson who will help that offense move the ball. Northwestern has not announced their starter and if I hear Johnson is not starting I will likely buy out of this one.

Wyoming Cowboys +17.5, 1 unit:
Cowboys really turned things around last year when they put Chambers in at QB and I expect that offensive improvement to continue. The Tigers have a ton of talent on the offensive side of the ball and are solid on D. There are a few question marks that lead me to take Wyoming. First, how quickly will Bryant adapt having not played in about a year? Second, how will Missouri do trying to play fast at extreme altitude. Huge opportunity for the Cowboys to make a statement and I think they keep this one close all night.

Oregon Ducks +4, 1 unit: Ducks are led by an experienced QB and the best O Line in the country. They should neutralize the excellent Tigers D Line which will leave WRs and RBs in space and that's not a good thing for Auburn's inexperienced LB corps. Throw in a freshman QB making his first start in this environment and I'll take the points.

Louisiana Tech Bulldogs +20.5, 1 unit: I don't think this is going to be like past years where the Longhorns overlook their first opponent. However there are a few things working in the Bulldogs favor. First, they can score and have an improved defense. Most importantly the Longhorns aren't going to want to do anything special or put anything unique on film with LSU coming up. They'll be focused but they won't have the whole playbook available. Tom Herman as an underdog....good. Tom Herman as a favorite....not so much.

Houston Cougars +23, 1 unit: Very experienced Cougar offense coming back and this is a lot of points to give one of the best QBs in the country. They lose Briles but Holgorsen is not an offensive slouch by any means. Sooners have a relatively inexperienced offensive line and an improved but still porous defense. Oklahoma is going to win this game but I expect them to ease Hurts into the game and not open up the entire playbook. Too many points to give even in a shootout.

Thoughts on Over 80 since you think it will be a shootout??

I’m leaning yes but who knows how “improved” OU’s D will be...

I lean yes but I lean more towards the Houston TT over..I'm so bad with totals that I rarely play them except when I get good info....and we can see how that worked out for me on A&M this week.

Louisville Cardinals +19, 1 unit:
The Cardinals quit on their coach last year. Because of that they are undervalued in this game as they won’t quit on Satterfield. Louisville returns a good amount of talent on both sides of the ball and they will have a great home crowd. The Fighting Irish are talented but lose a decent amount of skill position talent. Too big of a number for an experienced, motivated team.
