U.S. soccer star Carli Lloyd’s impressive 55-yard field goal during a recent Philadelphia Eagles practice apparently caught the attention of people in the NFL who made “some inquiries.”

The New Jersey native and Eagles fan drilled two long-range attempts - including the 55-yard field goal - during a preseason practice Tuesday, sending the kick straight through the goalposts. Videos quickly went viral, with one NFL great saying some teams should give her an “honest” tryout.

In an interview with SI TV’s Planet Futbol TV that aired Thursday, Lloyd said the videos ignited some “interesting chatter” around the possibility of a woman breaking into the NFL.

“I think anything is possible. It’s been really interesting because, for me, I’m just an athlete, I’m a competitor,” she said. “But for so many other people, I think they’re starting to think 'Will there ever be a female in the NFL at some point?' And I think we’re kind of at that crossroads as far as equality and just women empowerment, so you’re kind of being in the crosshairs of that.”

She added: “I’ve definitely got some inquiries, I’ve definitely got some people talking. Anything is possible but right now, I’m strictly a soccer player and we’ll see what the future holds.”

Doesn't bother me one bit to see a female kicker in the NFL as long as she can kick the ball thru the uprights .......& kickers rarely get injured or contacted by other players.

Sorry but I would be completely against this. Enough with the politically correct bullshit of having to include a woman in everything. The NFL is for men only period!

Granted, a 55-yard FG is impressive but with no rush, she took like 7 steps before kicking the ball. This is absurd.

I'm sure everyone playing in the premier league could kick a 55 yard FG - who knows about consistency

Does anyone know if this Carli Lloyid is a real female or one of those men who feel like a female? Good for her if she is a real female and can kick that good and as one of the other poster, there should be no problem playing the kicker position. Showers/bathroom/in game celebrations should have clear guidelines so that she doesn't come back with a sexual harrasment lawsuit for a pat in the back if her career fails.

Put a stopwatch on her getting to the ball...will be glad when football starts so we can rid ourselves of stories on soccer, swimming and guys and gals protesting and/or doing eveything they can to stay in the stoplight. ESPN shoud consider starting up a channel that is devoted to sports (men's basketball, football, hockey and I guess you could include the MLB).

What would a team do on kickoffs? Play 10 vs 11? Carry a second kicker? Surely she wouldn't be taking on blocks or tackling someone. She would pull a Janakowski and jump out of the way.

You know what would happen...everyone praises her getting a chance and equality and as soon as someone hits her on kickoff coverage, that person will be treated like a criminal. When the WNBA starts playing with a normal sized ball, maybe I will pay attention. Meanwhile, the only sport where there is some level of equality of skill and athleticism is horse racing...talking about the jockies not the horses other than Sarah Jessica Parker who fits into both categories.

I love this kind of stuff. It would be great if she was really good enough.

Jordan playing baseball.
Curry playing golf.
Danica Patrick in Nascar.

All this stuff is interesting and great as long as it's not a mockery, that at least have to be competitive.

No problem at all with women who are good enough trying sports dominated by men. Now the other way around I have a problem with, when these trensgenders who werre born men start competing in womans sports, THATS A PROBLEM. If you being politically correct it should be fine, but just use common sense.

Had to google Carli Lloyd, was a little disappointed in the looks dept. Not terrible, but something about her name made me think she would be a hot blonde.

Couple more:

Lesner , Hardy, Hershal Walker doing MMA

T Harding, Chyna, etc doing porn.

All interesting to me

US soccer great Carli Lloyd receives offer to kick for NFL team: trainer

Could Carli Lloyd’s NFL dreams become a reality?

The World Cup champion was offered a chance to kick for an NFL team during the final week of the preseason, Lloyd’s trainer James Galanis told Fox Sports on Monday

Lloyd told Sports Illustrated on Friday she has “definitely gotten some inquiries” from NFL teams after a video of her nailing a 55-yard field goal at a joint practice session between the Philadelphia Eagles and Baltimore Ravens went viral.

She added the videos ignited some “interesting chatter” about women potentially playing in the NFL.

On Monday, Galanis told Fox Sports that the U.S. soccer great was given the opportunity to be a part of an NFL roster and see game time. Galanis didn’t name which NFL team, but Lloyd’s interest conflicted with the U.S. match against Portugal on Thursday.

All 32 NFL teams play Thursday in the final tune-up before the regular season.

“I think Carli is perfectly made out for a job like that. She loves the pressure,” Galanis told Fox Sports. “She’s got one of the hardest kicks in the world when it comes to women. She is great at long range balls, she displayed that by scoring a goal from just past the halfway line in a World Cup final, and she is definitely in tune with the mechanics. She would be an ideal candidate.”

Lloyd told NBC Sports that joining the NFL would be “pretty massive” for young women to see.

“Oh, that would be massive. Pretty massive,” she said. “If I was a little girl watching and I saw an NFL kicker that was a female, that would be cool.”
