$100 a week in 1950 is about a $1000 a week today. You could live pretty good on $100 a week in 1950. A complete dinner at Jack Dempsey's in New York was around $2.25 to $3.75 and that was for a broiled minute sirloin steak. The dinner included everything from appetizer to coffee.

I think you're in the right neighborhood. When Vin passes and I hope he outlives me, it will be worth quite a bit more. He's a legend that is second to none imo.

Rickey has been dead for 50 years, The real value of this is the historical significance of the document. Scully's value has been rising for a few years because of his age. I don't think his death would increase the value much as this is a one of a kind piece. It really should be in the HOF or a museum, its that important.

That's a great point! I would agree 100%, but wondering if Scully has signed lots and lots of stuff. You are correct it's one of a kind.. (My initial guess was about 40K.)

Vin's autograph isn't rare, but he's very popular - there will be demand for it. Part of the appeal is a signature of his from 1950, which there are very few, vs one he signed in the last 10 years. I try to collect signatures from their playing days and not of recent vintage. The ones from recent vintage are shakier and more likely to miss letters.

I have a baseball signed by Mickey Mantle in the late 1960's.. It doesn't say the the date he signed it, and I don't have it "proofed" or whatever they call it... But I know the value of his signature has climbed gradually over the last 10 years.. He died in the middle to late 1990's.

There are a LOT of Mantle fakes, especially later in life. A signed ball from that era would be worth a grand easy depending on the condition of the ball.
