It's sure looking like a cat-4 direct hit maybe around Ft Pierce or Daytona Beach areas at this point.

It might be a good time to go and visit your 2nd cousin, Cletus in Tennessee ?

This one looks like the real thing ?

I'd think about it if I lived on the Atlantic side, I'd ride it out on the Gulf side

You don't want to get stuck there for a week or more with no power, a flooded home, etc.

Hopefully you guys get spared !

I would at least have a plan to migrate inland at least as far as Orlando if it looks like it is tracking right at you as major hurricane, preferably all the way to Tampa, especially if you have some relatives or friends there that can accommodate you.

The media tends to overhype this stuff and it could turn out to be a false alarm, but it could also be for real.

If I lived in say Daytona Beach, I'd decide by noon tomorrow.

You have to give it some respect if you're in the potential path.

Massive influx of shelter animals here already...

If you’re evacuating, please consider stopping by your local shelter and giving an animal or two a ride North...

And, if you leave a pet behind, I hope you drown before it does...

Put most of my shutters up yesterday. Still have some upstairs windows that need attending to. However the storm is shifting and i'm debating whether to stop shuttering. Gonna spend the day bringing everything from the outside and putting in the garage.

For most of the days, i plan on helping my neighbors out with doing the "heavy lifting" so they could put shutters up. I had someone help me out last nite and my rule of thumb is to always help at least 3 people out when someone helps you.

Good to hear, help thy fellow neighbor and any animals is a deed well done. Thoughts for yours and those around you total safety through this Storm...

I live in Broward and I waited to put up my shutters. Doesn't look like I need to now. Party Time. I feel bad for the Bahamas. They are going to get destroyed.

Well like it has been said, great for Florida, but it's gonna hit maybe Hilton Head or thereabouts now... somebody is going to get hit hard.

By the time these things make it to CT, they are usually tropical storm status, but can still do a lot of damage

There is a lot to dislike about CT, but we are relatively free of natural disasters like hurricanes, tornados, earthquakes, forest fires, tsunamis, blizzards, heat waves, extreme prolonged cold, dangerous animals, etc. There are worse places, they should put that on the license plates !

Any Carribean island country is very vulnerable, not many options exist to get to a safer place.

I don't want to see any place get destroyed by a storm, but these islands like Puerto Rico can get destroyed by a hurricane and take years to recover, just to see it all happen again and again

Turning east may or may not be so good for me. When I moved everyone talked about how Jacksonville hadn't been hit by a hurricane in 50 years. This would be 3 years in a row. Either way i'll ride it out. Cat 3's and 4's I really only worry about losing power. Last 2 years I lost it for a week and then 4 days.

Hurricane Dorian continues to churn growing to a major Category 4 hurricane with dangerous 150 mph winds as it targets the Bahamas, but the latest path projections show it will spare Florida a direct hit.

The projected path by the National Hurricane Center hasn’t changed significantly since its 11 a.m. forecast, which showed the storm strafing the northern Bahamas Sunday and Monday, but then taking a sharp right so the center of the storm doesn’t make Florida landfall.

The hurricane center has already measured gusts of 185 mph, and the storm’s sustained winds are projected to grow to 155 mph by 8 p.m., which is just shy of Category 5 status.

“We’re seeing some better news for Florida in regard to the longer term forecast for Dorian,” said WOFL-Fox 35 meteorologist Jayme King. “Not only has the NHC official track shifted the storm more East on approach to Florida but, the latest modeling is showing a big swing East. ... We’re certainly keeping our fingers crossed for this."

The state’s east coast from Palm Beach County up to Cape Canaveral and inland to parts of Orange County are still within the three-day cone of uncertainty, though. The five-day projection includes even more of the state, but the consensus path now has the storm headed for landfall near the South Carolina and North Carolina border.

Florida Gov. DeSantis, though, cautioned that the storm paths will continue to change and that Florida residents need to be wary.

“There is still significant chance of a strike on the state of Florida,” DeSantis said during a briefing at the Emergency Operations Center this morning. “Anyone inside of that cone needs to be prepared.”

The path has shifted several times since Thursday with projected landfalls suggesting it would slam into Florida as far south as West Palm Beach and as far north as Flagler Beach. Its path all day Friday had it targeting Orlando, but the various computer models kept shifting the path farther east.

As of 2 p.m., Hurricane Dorian is located 205 miles east of the northwestern Bahamas and 385 miles east of West Palm Beach and headed west at 8 mph. It looks to hit the Bahamas by 2 p.m. Sunday. A hurricane warning remains in effect for much of the northwestern Bahamas.

The hurricane center said a hurricane watch may be issued for parts of Florida later today.

“We’re not out of the woods by any stretch, this needs to be watched and all Central Floridians need to be on guard until the storm rides north of our location,” said Fox 35′s King.

Hurricane-force winds extend out 30 miles from the storm’s center with tropical storm-force winds extending out 115 miles. The current forecast has the center of the storm parked off Florida’s coast still as a Category 4 hurricane with 150 mph winds with gusts up to 160 mph near Brevard County by Tuesday morning. It is then projected to head more north skirting Florida’s coast and diminish speed, but still a dangerous Category 3 level hurricane with 115 mph winds by Wednesday morning east of Jacksonville.

The state will begin to feel tropical storm-force winds, though, as early as midday Sunday.

“Life-threatening storm surge and devastating hurricane-force winds are still possible along portions of the Florida east coast by the early to middle part of next week, but since Dorian is forecast to slow down and turn northward near the coast, it is too soon to determine when or where the highest surge and winds will occur,” the NHC said.

Gov. DeSantis said the fuel situation improved overnight, as gas trucks sped to resupply stations throughout the state. Many areas, including in South Florida and Central Florida, experienced long lines and shortages at some stations.

Brevard County is set to begin mandatory evacuations from its barrier islands on Sunday, DeSantis said, and other counties will have voluntary or partial evacuations, including Osceola, Martin, Glades and Hendry counties. But as the forecast tracks shift, evacuation orders may chance, DeSantis said.

Got water for my neighbor earlier. Looks like it may hit hilton head

I have friends that live there, more accurately acquantances that are very close friends with my first x-wife. I have stayed at their mansion.

It's a very wealthy area !

I don't want to see anybody die in this, especially by doing something really stupid like trying to surf the storm waves ,or drive through flooded spots and drown.

Nobody needs to die over a storm !
