As much as many people on this form LOVE their P5 schools b/c nobody is better than them, i would like to give a shout out to all the NON P5 schools who won or hung tough vs the "mighty" P5

Hawaii 45 Arizona (pac 12) 38
Cincy 24 Ucla (pac 12) 14
Minny (B1g) beats an FCS school by 7
Nevada 34 Purdue (B1G) 31
Boise 36 FSU (ACC 31)
Iowa State (B12 and Top 25) beats an FCS school by 3 in Triple OT
Memphis 15 Miss (mighty SEC 10)
West Virginia beats an FCS school by 7
UNC 24 South Carolina 20 (UNC is a P5 school but find it funny that a crappy school beat a "mighty" SEC school)
Georgia State 38 Tennessee (mighty SEC) 30
Arkansas (mighty SEC) beats an FCS school by 7
Wyoming 37 Mizzou (mighty SEC) 31

Thoughts on UCF this week?

Long story short, I think they win this week but not sure if they cover the 7

Now my long winded explanation:

I had posted this a few months earlier on this site when the GOY lines came out (maybe even earlier than that, cant remember). Stanford started out as a slight favorite and then the line was UCF-3. I thought UCF was in a good position due to Stanford having a "sandwich game" with USC in week 2 and Oregon in week 4 and Stanford flying cross country where they care about winning the PAC 12 over making the 4 team playoff.

Stanford's top QB was injured in week 2 but he is supposed to play this week. I know nothing about him other than being a 5 star recruit. Last saturday, I was at the UCF/FAU game in Boca. 7pm kickoff. Let me tell you something, it was FREAKING HUMID as all hell. This is a night game and it was just disgusting how HOT it was. I am saying this b/c this had a 330 start time and this game should be even more humid than the FAU game. My question is, will Stanford be ready for humidity like this? It will be sunny all game (check the weather report to make sure no rain) and the visiting side of UCF's stadium has the visitors in the HOT sun all game long. The best way Stanford should approach this game is the "ground and pound" method to keep UCF off the field.

From a gambling standpoint, the best play will be either a 2nd half line for UCF (if Stanford is leading at the half) or an "in play" bet on UCF if Stanford has the lead.

Judging from last year, UCF's defense was very vulnerable in 1st halfs and then Randy Shannon would make the halftime adjustments and their defense was awesome in the 2nd half of games.

UCF has a FAST paced offense. Stanford has seen offenses like this before but in this weather, its not going to be fun for Stanford. I can see many Stanford players get "injured" during the 2nd half just to slow down UCF's pace.

On another note, this is UCF's BIGGEST home game in years as they want to show the world that they can beat teams from the P5 conferences. The stadium will be electric and UCF will be "charged up" (no pun intended) for this game while Stanford may using this game to prepare for Oregon's high octane offense next week.

I havent handicapped this game so for now i have no opinion.

However, at halftime is game is tied or a standford lead, then take UCF for a 2nd half.

I will try to post during the game to give you my opinion on my "feel".

Good luck this week

Good info.. thanks for sharing. Also worth noting that Stanford hasn’t scored a point on offense in the second half this year. Not sure if it’s because of the QB change or poor adjustments, but you may be on to something there.

That was it this week.

Should be slim pickings for a while now that we're going into conference play

The G5 has narrowed the gap to the P5 in recent seasons
