The Steelers offense didn't show much of anything last week, with Mason Rudolph throwing for less than 100 yards aside from the big JuJu Smith-Schuster catch and run. I mean, they were helped by five turnovers and still only scored 20 points. Andy Dalton has been awful in primetime, and while I'm open to Zac Taylor cooking something up for the bright lights, this really feels like this is going to be a low-scoring game decided by a field goal.

The Steelers are at home, they need the game, and they're not going 0-4. Pittsburgh forced five turnovers last week: They can take the ball away from the Bengals and Andy Dalton. And Mason Rudolph isn't terrible. Lay the points.

I hate backing Andy Dalton in primetime, but you just can't lay points with Mason Rudolph until he proves he's a better QB than what he showed last week, when the only thing that saved him from a sub-100-yard performance was the JuJu Smith-Schuster catch-and-run touchdown. I'd even buy that the Bengals have the coaching edge here; while Mike Tomlin couldn't win a game where his defense had five takeaways, the Bengals outplayed the Seahawks in Seattle and just couldn't get the win in the end. Trust Dalton and Zac Taylor over Rudolph and Tomlin. Take the points.

The Bengals are better on a yards-per-play basis, and they've covered each of their road games this year. While Pittsburgh has won eight straight meetings, the last three have all been one-score games. Grab the points but do not be surprised by an outright upset.

Tonight's winner...
100 Dimer is the Cincinnati Bengals plus the points over the Pittsburgh Steelers. At 7:00 am eastern time, the Bengals are +3 to +3 1/2 points.

Note: If the line you happen to get is anywhere from +2 1/2 to +4 points I advise buying the half-point up on Cincinnati.

About this game....

Well, someone has to win this game - unless of course it ends in a tie! - as Cincinnati stands at 0-3 straight up and Pittsburgh also stands at 0-3 straight up.

A look back over the recent meetings between these division rivals shows the Steelers with 8 straight wins (playoffs included), and a money-turning 5-2-1 spread mark in those 8 wins. Keep in mind that Pittsburgh was quarterbacked by Ben Roethlisberger in the bulk of those victories, and that will NOT be the case tonight as Mason Rudolph will make his second straight start for the Men of Steel.

Rudolph had Pittsburgh in position to win outright on the road last week at San Francisco, but the Niners scored a late touchdown to rally for the 24-20 win. The 49ers by the way had 5 turnovers in that game, yet still managed to find a way to eek-out the victory.

The Bengals also lost late late weekend at Buffalo as they gave up the game-winning touchdown to the Bills in the games final 2 minutes of play. Still, Cincy was able to use the points to their favor for their backers, as they managed to cover for the 6th time in their last 7 games since last season. The Bengals are also on a 9-2 spread run their last 11 as the away underdog. Those are some numbers I can get behind, that is for sure.

The Steelers come into this game having failed 8 of their last 11 against the spread since last season. Not that I am enamored with Andy Dalton under center, but the Red Rifle is at least an experienced NFL quarterback who has been through the wars for many a year. The same cannot be said for Mason Rudolph for the host Steelers.

Neither team has really be able to gain any traction running the football, so expect a steady diet of the passing game tonight.

With both teams struggling to find their first "W", I will take the points out for a drive tonight and look for a close game at Heinz Field.
