The Capitals are winning more than half my simulations for the season opener in St. Louis, making them a strong play at this attractive price. The Blues won both meetings last season but my projections show a turnaround Wednesday night.

I told you before I will not lie to you. And I won’t. The best play today is like Joshua computer said in WARGAMES: “The only winning move is – not to play”. That completely applies today. The A’s and Rays are mirror images of each other. Home field likely is the reason a bit more cash is flowing on the A’s, but the smart play is to pass on this game. I’m not betting AGAINST Morton after the year he’s had, and I’m not going against an A’s team that matches up as well as they do against the Rays.

Handicappers – excuse me – SALESPEOPLE – that say they’ve got some inside track won’t tell you that their information is essentially a coin flip. I’m staying away from this game – and so should you. If you need to bet on it because it’s the only action of the night – best of luck. If you REALLY need something – get some value. Take out a futures bet on Tampa Bay at +1400 to win the AL Pennant. That’ll give ya some rooting interest. Just plop $10 or $20 on that and limit that loss.
