Unless you have Mariano Rivera out in your bullpen do not pull out your current pitcher (Pomeranz) who is pitching great until at least a batter gets a hit or walk from him. The guy was on cruise control. Making a change to your closer before the ninth to start the 8th CHANGED the game. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it...

...and nobody can get 6 outs with ease, coming in as a closer, unless your name is Mariano Rivera.

Playoffs is a different monster. Clemens, Maddux, Johnson , Martinez, Price and Kershaw among otherswerel very average in the playoffs. Schilling, Baumgartner, Hernandez, Smoltz all as good as it gets. Rivera was that for closers. Some of these managers play by the book. The old lefty vs lefty type stuff. Put your best guys in and forget it. But as far as pulling the pitcher it depends how late it is in the game.... how many outs.... the score... along with how good your bullpen is. But your statement is mostly true

I played Nats in game plus +280 when I saw this coming. I do not know what is is but Managers either stick with a pitcher too long or pull them when they are shutting down the opposition.

Great post E17!
