Mike Foltynewicz was 8-6 with a 4.54 ERA during the regular season, but he pitched a gem in seven scoreless innings in Game 2 of this series. Jack Flaherty was 11-8 with a 2.75 ERA this season but he gave up three runs on eight hits in Game 2. Jack Flaherty has been an ace for this team all season, but the Braves were able to see him well in their first matchup. Folty looked unhittable in Game 2 and in September he was 4-1 with a 1.50 ERA. Flaherty pitched his first postseason game in Game 2, if the Braves can get some baserunners with the crowd behind them I like them to knock out Flaherty earlier than the Cards want.

Even money for the home team in an elimination game is usually a solid bet. The Braves should come out laser-focused after their disappointing walk-off loss on Monday. Braves starter Mike Foltynewicz couldn’t be hotter than he is against these Cardinals. In his last two starts against them, he has pitched 13 innings and has given up zero runs. The Braves have outscored the Cardinals by a run count of 8-2. Edge goes to the Braves on Wednesday.

ot-I can't remember many if any baseball games over the years where for all intents and purposes the side and total winner were decided in the first half of the first inning.

Stephen Strasburg was 18-6 with a 3.32 ERA this season and he has a 0.64 career ERA in the postseason. In Game 2, he gave up one run in six innings with 10 strikeouts and no walks. Walker Buehler was 14-4 with a 3.26 ERA this season and he only gave up one hit in six innings in Game 1. He has thrown 16.2 consecutive scoreless innings in the postseason. However, all the pressure is on the Dodgers tonight. The Nationals will have Corbin available in relief so they should be able to avoid their other relievers. This game is closer to a toss up with these two pitchers starting in the postseason, take the value in the Nats in Game 5.

Home-field advantage is everything in a winner-take-all scenario. The Dodgers should be a much heavier favorite Wednesday night against the Nationals with Stephen Strasburg on short rest. The Dodgers have proven their dominance at home this season, going an MLB-best 60-23 this season, and they face a team that is just five games above .500 on the road. This doesn’t add up to an underdog victory. Take Walker Buehler where he left off against the Nats and bringing his team to the next round.

In this deciding Game 5, I like the Dodgers' Walker Buehler over Stephen Strasburg. Buehler will take the mound on full rest after shutting down the Nationals over six innings in Game 1. He has not allowed a run in 16.2 consecutive postseason innings. My model says L.A. wins 63 percent of the time, so you're getting good value with the Dodgers at this price.
