Surprised to see nobody discussing this.

Money over morals?

I’m glad they are faced with this. But we shouldn’t be apologizing to them for implying democracy is good

And of all teams, its China’s favorite NBA team. Lol. Bring back Jeremy Linn for publicity lol.

Think we need lebron to start wearing “stand with Hong Kong” shirts. Lol

Steve Kerr quiet on this one. The nba is sucking Chinas dick. I posted about this in the political thread about how S Park was a week ahead of this story. They destroyed China.

exactly. the most outspoken athletes are in the nba. they criticize trump over anything and then silent when it could hurt their bottom line.

Im not sure what the vibe is here. I personally think Hong Kong should get their independence from China, based on what I have read. Do people here agree or disagree? And I dont understand what is wrong with what the Rockets owner said. He has an opinion on a foreign current event and stated it. Its not dramatically offensive nor surprising. Is the NBA that hard up for Yuan?

Fuck the bullshit “woke” NBA.

Bunch of dumb fuck Millionaire’s telling us how the struggle is real.

Bitch boy Lebron going to try to trademark Hong Kong and China like he tried with taco Tuesday and barber shop.

Yes. There are twice as many NBA fans in China than in the USA. It's all about the money for the owners and players, selling out American ideals of freedom and democracy. The players and owners could use basketball to spread those ideals, but they won't. Just like Michael Jordan and his "Republicans buy shoes, too" quote. Spineless.

The NBA says they don't want to get political...They sure had no problem pulling the all star game from a city over where normal people should use the bathroom...

I’m super intrigued to see how it will all unfold.

The transgender bathroom thing in Charlotte doesn’t really make any sense if you ignore how China treats their people. You aren’t allowed to be a transgender at all there. They don’t do surgeries like that there. They just kill those people. So money over morals? Or what? We’ll see. It’s an interesting topic. I think about 99% of the NBAs goal of business with China has to do with the revenue. 1% of it has to do with way of life.

So just because the public is watching....doesn’t mean they won’t choose money over morals.

They may have to fire Morey to appease the Chinese government. Which is a completely cowardly move to make. I do respect Adam silver and think he’s a solid commish. But definitely his most difficult task he’s been faced with

I think they just want to keep it basketball related. Nothing more nothing less. They don’t want it to have anything to do with politics.

Absolutely horrible analogy

The ignorance on these two issues is on opposite sides, more like a reverse analogy

China tells most US corporations what to do so not much of a departure from the norm. Nice to be in charge.
