LISTENING ON LA SPORTS STATIONS WHEN BELINGER ON 2 nd Nobody out . Should bunt him over . Next 3 guys strike out. I knew this month ago, i bet you didn’t. Dodgers have only bunted besides pitchers. 2 x out of their starters successfully. 2 FIIING x If. they could get Bellinger over maybe 4th run. Kershaw let them down. Then Joe Kelly. Funny you get all Dodger haters coming out when they lose. Most their favorites didn’t even make the playoffs. Ok today Astros -1.5 win $25. Astros ^^7 $28-25. P.S i have you guys ?? my small $$ bets. Icalled one of you out yesterday on your Cardinal win . This guy been riding me for years on my $20-50plays Guy shows me his winning tickets. Congrats i had Braves & under Losers in 1st. They are for $20-45. What’s up with that in the Windy city

I saw that entire segment. It stopped me in my tracks and listened to everything he said. Incredible. Worth watching.

They had 106 wins best in National League without bunting. Who bunts anymore on a regular basis? Plus, Kershits blew it again as usual. Maybe they should leave him off the roster for playoffs.

Analytics has done away with the sac bunt and base stealing. Moneyball says you don't give away outs. So poof. No more bunts. No more base stealing. NBA moneyball says the 2 pt jumper is not worth it. So for the most part, it too has gone the way of the bunt and stolen base. Rockets shoot 3 pters and dunks. That's it.

Would like to know stats about sacrifice bunts. What other teams did during playoffs. Dodgers didn’t need it during season. But playoffs runs are tough to come by. Now comparison with NBa , i don’t understand . Thanks for input though.

MLB players are mostly very poor bunters, both for sacrifices or hits.

Sure, with the juiced plutonium baseball, and HGH / weight lifting hitters, the game is home runs, walks, and strikeouts, but bunting still matters, and it cost LA big.

Tonight, 41 degrees in St. Louis, probably not a home run type game, it is a pitchers park and in the cold good bunters, speed and defense will be rewarded.

It is amazing how that skill has clearly not been taught, emphasized, you can often see a player with horrible fundamentals botch a sacrifice situation badly.

And with the over-shifts, there should be players that can bunt for hits but not many at all, do.

(Roberts: why did he not use his top relievers, Kelly was injured in Sept and shaky a few days ago faced 4 got no one out, he let Kelly go for two innings, that was stunning)

This is a great post. And I would say not just the Dodgers...I feel bunting is a MAJOR problem in terms of skill set for MLB teams/coaches/& players. My Dad taught me in the 5th grade how to bunt 'Try & catch the ball as if the bat were a mitt'...In other words, keep the bat still and let the ball come to you......Take notice and you will see how many players poke at the ball w/ a ton of bat movement..Strasberg perfect example the other night. Bunting should not be this difficult for pro players

disagree...hate bunting with someone in scoring position

It’s all about the situation...you have a runner on 2nd and no out...need a run....have a guy who can handle the bat followed by a fly ball hitter you bunt him to 3rd and score on sacrifice fly

I grew up watching NL primarily and Cards, Whitey Herzog was one of the Kings of small ball

If you were an AL fan (Bronx Bombers for example)...much different
