Latest is his throat cancer has returned and has been flying to Germany for treatments.

David Lee Roth has conceded Van Halen as a band is done and is moving on starting with a residency gig in Las Vegas.

Get well Eddie.

Last time they were on stage was 2015.

Dave has matured over the years comparable to when they started. Dave has been IMO given the blessing to keep the Van Halen music catalog alive. And he will to the best of his abilities. Dave did a great bluegrass version of Jump that fit his vocals and it was actually pretty good despite the criticism.
If Dave does a mix his and Van Halen in Vegas I think he could pull it off.

I prefer Sammy Hagar big time but living here in Vegas I will definitely take this time in my life to see DVR and appreciate his contribution to one of the greatest bands in the history of rock n roll.

DLR by default or preferred by many, maybe most. I prefer Vh w/ Sammy too but Hagar not budging. Wish Eddie the best. Phenom. Balance tour Nov. 1995 Austin Tx...1 of best times ever. Besides seeing Rush, that was closest to heaven ever concertwise.

Eddie really had a great ride during both eras. During Roth it was raw until 1984 which was raw with a mixture of polish. 5150 was all polish which I loved as it exemplified Eddie’s sound into better plateaus. Eddie to me always had, hard to put this in words, but a sound I refer to being an optimistic melody to it. He did a lot of fun and experimental stuff that kept you in. Even his “darker” stuff, if you want to call it that, was prevalent in Fair Warning album. Just a great guitar player I’m happy to have been a consumer of. I no longer have complaints.

This sounds eerily similar to Patrick Bateman reviewing Huey Lewis and the News's career.

I prefer his "Brown" sound from the early Roth era over the processed sound from the Hager years. Very difficult to replicate. High gain with less distortion than one would think. Light Phase, amp cranked to 10.

Saw them twice with Roth but was quite young at the time and, sucks to say, didn't take much of it in.
