Sadly, i watched most of the game from 12pm -3pm and then followed on my phone for the next 40 minutes (i had a canes ML wager that f'd me hard this weekend). I gave the 17 pts or whatever it was
GT scored first in the game when they sacked the canes qb in the end zone and fumbled.
The canes were then up 14-7.
Later in the 1st half, the canes were driving, couldnt punch it in for the td so went for the chip shot field goal. I figured we're now up 10 and my looking good to cover. Well their kicker missed a chippy fg.
GT gets the ball and punts on their 50 yard line. However they faked the punt, threw deep, and scored a TD to tie the game at the half.
Here is the crazy part. Looks like GT went back to the option (or a form of the option) on offense and the canes couldnt stop them. GT kept chipping away at them. It looked like GT was going to take a 2nd half lead as they had a long drive but fumbled on the canes 20 yard line. The canes had some nice drives of their own but missed 2 EASY chip shot field goals in the 2nd half (on top of the missed chippy in the first half).
In this game, the canes had their kickoff/punt returner suspended (who is also a WR). Starting running back (and good player) DeeJay Dallas went down, their O-lineman went down and their CB went down. All 3 did not return. The canes QB also went down in the game but returned. The canes backup qb (who was the starter earlier this season) was crappy.
The canes O-line looked horrible. Perry is the better QB as he can escape the pocket a little and is better leading the team.
Manny Diaz said after the game that "we are rebuilding". This morning on a radio show he backtracked by saying "we are rebuilding their confidence".
Now lets look at PITT. Very impressive 5-2 record as they lost their opener to Virginia and played Penn State close (their coach called a fg from the 1 yard line in the 4th quarter down 7???).
Since the Penn State game, PITT had beaten UCF (they blew a 21-0 lead but then came back at end) and had 3 more wins after that. I watched the UCF game and 1 thing PITT did well was control the defensive line of scrimmage. They were in UCF'S backfield ALOT in the 1st half. I had mentioned earlier that Miami has a WEAK O-line.
2 years ago, Miami was undefeated and went to a crappy PITT team on black Friday. Pitt pulled a nice upset in that game taking away Miami's chance at a CFP invite. Last year Miami dominated PITT. Could this be a revenge game for PITT?
I think PITT wins here but my only problem is that PITT has been playing close games all year. PITT could be content by "just" winning the game and may not care about the cover. If PITT wins by 3, Miami backers win. I have not done my numbers for this game but curious if anything stands out.
Teasing PITT may be the play (for now) or PITT ML could be the play (for now). In a couple of days, if PITT and the pts is a good play, i'll post (not that i know shit from cheyenne)
good luck
