Expecting an off track. So I did a quick check to see how the track plays wet ... seems Thistledown has been dry just about all summer. So I had to dig out my "big" Bias Watcher program to dig up any info from Thistledown's old history. Not much to report. No prevailing biases when wet. Slight middle-in posts and presser styles trend. But not too much.
race #1 - 5.5f
#3 5-2 KINGOFTHEBUCKEYE
#5 9-2 SCHMULTZY
#6 8-1 LUNAR CAP
race #2 - 5.5f
#2 9-2 SPIN DOCTOR - 3yo hasn't raced since 2018, Mejias lands here
#6 5-2 LAST CRUSADER - logical
#4 10-1 BUCKEYE BROWN - exotic booster, 6yo maiden has never hit the board in 20 starts with a jock that has never won and a 1% trainer ... don't be bettin' no farms.
race #3 - 6f
#5 6-1 MARCIE'S CANDY - trainer Eric Reed (new to Thistledown) sends 2 in here. Trainer has raced in Ohio at Belterra, but is more successful at Mountaineer.
#6 7-2 MAGICAL JUSTICE - will try to make all the pace
race #4 - 6f
#1A 3-1 FOREST CHATTER - pick to click
#2 12-1 CAN'T REMEMBER
#7 6-1 LUCKY FELLOW
race #5 - 5.5f
... wide open 2yo MSW
#4 8-1 GOLDEN MONEY - wheels right back, inspect for eagerness or could be a dud
#5 9-2 MAXIMIZER
#1A 7-2 SIR SWAYSALOT
race #6 - 8f
#6 5-2 DINESEN - should be a nice shock to the senses ..... California sun to a wet/cold Cleveland
#7 6-1 YESUS STAR
#1 7-2 GOD'S WILL BE DONE
#5 9-2 PULLEDAFASTONE
race #7 - 5.5f
#6 9-2 BRYCE'S ANGEL - pace advantage
#1 8-1 WYATTS WARRIOR - jock+
#2 7-2 FLASH K
#4 6-1 NILO E C - absolutely astonishing how bad a blue blood pedigree can be CURLIN X STORM CAT X ALYDAR !! That pedigree should have beat these running backwards.
race #8 - 6f
#7 3-1 PAINT DAKOTA - trainer has won 5 of last 6
#1A 5-2 RACINROSEMARY
#3 7-2 WENDY PEFFERCORN
race #9 - 8f
... wide open
#2 8-1 MAGICAL EXPRESS
#1 12-1 NO LIMIT - afraid jockey may gun from the rail, not a good thing today.
#8 10-1 BOLD CHROME - Larry Smith usually uses Thistledown to prep for Mahoning meet, but this one fits it they try at all.
#10 6-1 KISS SIN GOODBYE
FYI, definitions:
"pick to click" - most likely (aka best bet)
"bomb alert" - very possible, don't ignore if big price
"exotic booster" - use underneath only
"fiddler" - don't expect top effort if low price
My wagers are exacta keybox top pick, plus straight win bet on top pick.
Good luck to all!
