MistaFlava's 2019 NBA Record: 0-0 ATS (+0.00 Units)

I haven't posted much NBA in the past but I'm going to give it a go (posting wise) since I've made some nice cash the last couple of years.

No big writeups because there are so many games per week but I'll explain why I like certain plays. Feel free to chime in with any type of analysis, comments, suggestions or general chatter.

GOOD LUCK TO ALL THIS SEASON!

Toronto Raptors -6.5 (10 Units)

The City of Toronto has been on a high since last June when the Raptors pulled off the impossible and beat the Golden State Warriors for the NBA Championship. I can't believe I just wrote that. There has been a buzz around the city even after Kawhi Leonard bailed for the Clippers and that should continue right into tonight's home opener where the banner will be raised, the rings will be handed out and all the fans in attendance will receive a replica Championship ring to keep. Hangover? Yeah it's possible but too many guys have too much to prove on the Raptors (Siakam new contract, Van Vleet elevated minutes, OG Anunoby back in the starting lineup) and the Raptors have a ton of new guys off the bench. The Pelicans on the other hand have some talent but the loss of Zion for 6-8 weeks only days ago was kind of shocking and devastating to a team that was supposed to surprise some people early in 2019 with Lonzo Ball now on board and Jrue Holliday amongst others. If you look at the history of these two teams the Pels beat the Raptors here in 2018 and also played them really close the 2-3 times before that but that was with AD in the lineup every single time. He's gone. I expect a full effort right to the final buzzer from this new group of Raptors mixed in with the Champions. The City wouldn't have it any other way.

Looking back at the way the Pels finished the season last year they were only 0-6 ATS in their last six games versus Eastern Conference teams and only 1-5 ATS in their last six versus the NBA Atlantic Division. They finished the season on a 4-12 ATS run and in their last 19 meetings with the Raptors the Pelicans covered the spread only 5 times overall. Sure they've had success with AD here in the past but times have changed and he's gone and it will take time for this team to adjust. I say the Raptors win big tonight!

Trend of the Game: New Orleans is 5-13-1 ATS in their last 19 games versus Toronto.

Toronto 112, New Orleans 89

Los Angeles Lakers -3 (10 Units)

The Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Clippers are obviously going to build a crazy rivalry with the additions they have made to their rosters in the off-season. Antonio Davis and Kawhi Leonard join this rivalry (on different teams) and if this wasn't the most enticing opening night matchup ever I'm not sure what is. I don't really know what to expect from either side and I don't know how good or mediocre the Clippers are going to be without Paul George. I assume adding Kawhi with this group will be completely different than with the Raptors. On the other hand with all this talk that kind of ruined the season for all AD Fantasy owners last year when he was held out of games late in the season for not being traded and for preserving for a trade this year, you would expect the Lakers duo to come out guns blazing tonight regardless of who joins them in the lineup (Kuzma is OUT and Rondo is questionable). The team listed as the AWAY team has won the last six games between these two teams and it seems to be a continuing trend that they will play better.

I remember vaguely last year the Lakers being really good against the NBA Pacific Division (12-5 ATS run to end the season) and they were also good versus Western Conference opponents. The Clippers on the other hand covered only 3 of their last 10 games at the end of last season and only 3 of their last 10 versus Western Conference opponents. If you look back at all the recent matchups there is little to no defense and all the scores have been in the 100's for both teams hence the OVER always being a good play but that might change now with Kawhi and AD in the mix. The Lakers are 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings overall, the "ROAD" Team is 6-0 ATS in the last six meetings and I'm going with Lebron and AD tonight. I just think it will take a bit of time to adjust Kawhi into this lineup. Expect a close game with the Lakers pulling away very late.

Trend of the Game: The "ROAD" Team is 6-0 ATS in the last six meetings.

LA Lakers 109, LA Clippers 103

GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE!
