This year Ross stepped in when Max coudn't go back in August and started several games and was absolutely stellar. He started 8 games and gave up 0,0,1,0,2,7,1 and 1 ER in 38 2/3 innings for a 2.83 ERA ... 1.29 if you take out that 7 run start vs. the Mets. Can tend to walk people which isn't good vs. these Astros who walk more than anyone.
He's already pitched 2 innings vs. Astros in this series and gave up one hit.

Joe Ross is a sinker guy. The Astros are good against sinkers. Houston’s batters produced 16.3 runs above-average versus sinkers this season, fourth-most in the majors.
