Intentional walks now automatic, why not a football kneel down?

Im glad they did away with the throws outside 4 times
It saves time and there is no point (maybe a wild pitch).

Why cant they opt for an auto kneel down (maybe only when the other team has no timeouts)

Of course they have the option to run the play if they want to take more time off than the minimum that would be awarded.

This would avoid last minute pushing and occasional fights that are useless.

You never seen a kneel down where a stupid def lineman plunges through starting a fight?

Because I've seen a QB fake the kneel down to run a trick play. An offense needs that option.

Bad move, imo. They should have to throw the 4 pitches. 4 balls is a walk, so the ball should have to cross the plate a minimum of 4x, especially in lower levels of ball where the margin of error is way higher.

don't leave out the possibility of a balk plus the 4 extra pitches could have a toll on the pitcher for the ensuing batters.

I'm with you shdw01. Seems like a great idea and a simple one at that.

* it's silly at the end of games, there is 1:50 and the losing team has 0 timeouts, for 2 minutes the teams stand there awkwardly while having to snap it and take a knee every 40 seconds. The offense doesn't want to be there, the defense doesn't want to be out there, the coaches wish it would just end. It's just stupid.

* it punishes the winning teams stats. I'm pretty sure it counts as a running play at -1 yard a shot. It can bring a teams average for the game down significantly. If they had 10 rushes for 100 yards to that point, they have a 10 average. Throw in 3 kneel downs now it's 13 rushes for 97 yards now 7.46 average. I think they also count as a negative play. Same for individual stats, just ugly in the box score with the QB having 3 rushes for -3 yards.

* it can prevent unnecessary fights at the end.

* it just saves time.

As much as I'll miss the one fake kneel down for a 10 yard game each year, I'll manage.

Happens like once a year in the NFL and 1-2 times a year in College.
Here is a game winner from last month...

That's actually pretty awesome. lol

But like Matt said. By making the walk automatic, it eliminates the chance of a balk, or a wild pitch (it happened), or the even a batter trying to swing or runner stealing third.

I think if they can get rid of that for safety and time, they can get rid of the kneel down. I see fights breaking out way more often than I see a fake kneel down.

and fwiw, that example would probably not qualify because the other team did have a timeout.

Because kneeling is a privilege that almost no coaches know when to do. The only reason you see so many is because someone figured out that if you reach the two minute warning with no timeouts, it's safe to do so. But put 1:17 on the clock with one timeout, and coaches will run the ball.....because they are almost all functional retards.

My favorite is in college when there is 1:23 on the clock and the defense has one timeout, making the game officially over, and coaches tell their QB to run around and delay taking the knee for 5 seconds. All morons.
