I'm guilty of that because that's what my parents always did...

Some things just don't matter wether on the pantry shelf or the fridge.

Other things are best left right on the kitchen counter...

Tomatoes
Whole melons
Potatoes
Garlic
Onions
Coffee
Peanut butter
Bread
Hot sauce

Just to name a few !

Are you guilty of mistefrigeration ?

Hint, if the grocery store doesn't refrigerate it, you probably shouldn't either !

Many times it's irrevelant or even detrimental !

Everything doesn't need to go in the freaking fridge, from a guy with a 865 SF house and 1.5
refrigerators and a chest freezer !

You probably refrigerate stuff automatically, like I used to.

I only have the half fridge because it was given to me. I won't turn down a new in the box fridge for free !

Definitely don't refrigerate a tomato unless you cut into it, then fridge it !

Re-examine what you just throw in the refrigerator, it ain't always the best place !

It's hard for me to break the habit of just putting everything in the fridges, but it's often wrong or irrelevant.

If I saw someone with peanut butter in their fridge that would be the last time I talked to them. That's some serial killer shit right there.

Hint. If the label says refrigerate after opening, you probably should.

After opening for sure, like a jar of mayonnaise, absolutely, but until opened it's fine on a shelf in the pantry .

Cut a tomato or melon or whatever, then the remainders go in the fridge.

Some people leave butter out, I don't, it attracts ants, 3 seconds in the microwave will soften it

Reminds me of a King of Queens episode where Doug was arguing with Arthur about this, Arty telling him to toast the bread.

That was a good show, Kevin James ( unfortunately he looks a lot like a shorter me ! ).

He was great in King/ Q, but every movie he has ever been in sucks, K/Q was his Apex point !

I worked at a grocery store as a teenager, management would often leave pallets of eggs unrefrigerated simply because they wouldn't fit it in the walk - in fridge.

I'd call that a low level perishable, preferably refrigerated, but not critical.

I stocked frozen foods for a awhile, ice cream was always the first thing you shelved, anything else could stand 4-5 hours waiting time until I got it on the appropriate shelf, dry goods were way easier to deal with !

It goes from helping Eddie in frozen foods, to becoming stationed there permanently and ordering product and shit if Eddie is out sick/vacation, etc.

I hate the cold, Didn't like going into a Sub zero walk in freezer ( more like 20 below )to get my stock

I worked in a grocery store to put myself through college, and liked doing dairy/frozen. Though yeah, you're right, spending a lot of time in that 20 below freezer
was no fun. We used to use the price guns to put stickers on the items before the days of scanners, and it was a pain in the ass getting the stickers to stay
on some of the frozen food.

We used to use ink stamps that smeared like hell ! there is no good way to put a price labeled be on a bag of frozen corn or something similar.

Thankfully that is no longer required.

I thought Mall Cop was pretty funny. Not like it was gonna win an Academy Award or anything but funny nonetheless
