I’m beginning to notice there is very few that know what they are doing at the poker table. Yea, they know the hands, they know enough to know enough. But to me, it’s seems like patience and greed gets everyone in the end. At least at the 1/3 NL.

I’m still learning and reading and sometimes I get some expensive lessons. What I am learning, for the most part, players at this level rarely bluff. If they bet like they have it, they have it.

I play super tight. I’ll limp in at times with suites connectors, but for the most part I come in I raise. I play all AK, AQ, AJ suited and only 7,7 or better. I fold A LOT of hands and at times I’ll play position if I can get a feel for the table.

Hand values change according to position. Hands I throw away in early position, I raise with in late position.

You dont play small pocket pairs in late position? You are losing value...

You won't find this in any book. He gave you good advice. As for your play, as mentioned situational poker if you aren't playing it, then you are giving up a great part of your game. Those PP under 7 are great hands to wreck others "high hands"

For the most part no, especially on a raise. Slowly learning. Lol

So if you bet it preflop and miss, then fold? I chase flushes is my weakness. But I know if I can get the nut flush it’s worth more than just a low card flush. Same with a straight.

I’ve just been running bad

Always play the low pocket pairs in late position if the call is not too rich.
Those are the hands you make huge money on .

depends how deep stacks are
gotta have at least 10/1 implied odds
so if it’s $10 to call but the guy only has $80 behind that you could potentially win (or you are short stacked yourself), probably not worth it
With some exceptions (ie you don’t plan to fold every time you miss)

Tournaments will crush your soul more. You will often play well for multiple hours only to come short of the money.
If you cant handle variance of cash games then tournaments will surely make you ill:pucking:

I prefer tournament but it is definitely higher variance than cash.

Pretty sure I would too. I’d rather have a $100 but in and my only risk is the $100.

You can build a 1/3 NL cash game to $700-800 and lose it all on a bad beat

In what way?

yea MTTs have higher Variance but don’t think they are nearly as soul crushing to me .

You know the worst case scenario the moment you enter the tourney .

Your buyin is the most you can lose no matter what .
In cash that is not the case .

Its much more demoralizing losing all your real money in a cash game then it is losing chips in a tourney

I hear you, but at least in a cash game you can realize success by taking a profit and cashing out.
Where in a tourney you build but cant cash out until you make the money.
