I'm sorry but i just don't see this horse winning on derby day (i could be wrong--damn sure wouldnt be the first time....).

Is he the best horse in a mediocre field?
possibly...

but 6-5 odds? come on i cant see betting this horse to win with anything that short.

personally i think there are some under-rated horses in this field and the prices that pay are gonna be nice especially on the exotics

DON'T THINK EMPIRE MAKER IS OVERRATED, BUT WON'T TAKE A SHORT PRICE ON HIM TOMORROW. I LIKE BUDDY GIL, BUT WOULD WANT OPIONIONS FROM JJGOLD, MAZELTRICK, CERVEZA, ET. AL....

There has been hype on Empire Maker since Toussaud dropped him. There is no way he deserves 6-5. Just looking at the Wood - he was only 1/2 length better than Funny Cide and the latter had trouble at the start. The Fla Derby win was against a mediocre field at best.
I like Mullins horse a lot but I just can't pull the trigger. Right now I'm torn between Funny Cide and Peace Rules with Buddy Gil, Empire, and Ten Most Wanted in the exotics.

agree with what you say cerveza.

i like peace rules as well--thinkin about putting a flyer on
atswhatimtalkinabout and sir cherokee as well and will be mixing them up on the exotics. i wont count empire out in that respect--just dont see him in the winners circle.

curious though what you like about funny cide?
good trainer and jock but what else you see there?

I like him because he's definitely on the improve. The price will absolutely be there. The con is his breeding - is 1m 1/4 too much?

hadn't really looked at that about him before, but i see what you mean dominating performances in races up to 1 mile but tapers off at greater distance--guess you'll see what kind of 'heart' this one has if you put a play out....

Well, big brother, it looks like the distance wasn't a problem for Funny Cide...the colt's got some heart, huh? I did end up betting him to win and I was able to cash the exacta, but I left Peace Rules out of my tri and super plays so they all went in the can. On to the Preakness...
