Not very easily. You'd have to be tricked to somehow install some trojan horse app onto your phone that gave others access... Just like any
other PC

Not really, because all your numbers are backed up on a cloud (VZW, Google, Apple, TMo, , whatever) so even if you physically delete it from the phone, you would still have to delete it from the cloud.

Cant say too much about his situation. But it looked to indeed be a cloud sync issue.
