Broke dead even yesterday, hoping for a profit today as the weather looks to be dry and windy.
Race 1 - #12 Dancingwithjimmieb (20-1) I can't make a strong case for a single runner in this race so I'll put a couple of bucks on a longshot in a bad post with a bug boy aboard. Good day to show up late to the track.
Race 2 - #4 Triple Scout (12-1) Dropping into state bred competition for a trainer that generally races his horses into fitness. Perfect spot.
Race 3 - #5 He's Super Lucky (7-2) Looks like this guy has figured it out. Like that he comes back two weeks after breaking maiden - and Saez stays.
Race 4 - #6 Make a Stand (3-1) Drops in with claimers and gets a jockey upgrade. The debut was unimpressive but not disappointing. Expect a move forward today.
Race 5 - #4 Waterloo Sunset (6-1) I feel like the race sets up for a stalker-type. This girl went off at 5-2 vs similar and fell at the start in last before Jairo pretty much mailed it in. Today we get a better price.
Race 6 - #6 The Gipper (9-2) Face it, this is Tiger Blood's race to lose. But if the 4 horse pushes him faster than he wants to go, then the race could fall to the Gipper.
Race 7 - #5 Golden Splendor (5-1) If I were more confident in my handicapping I would be all over this filly. But I keep asking myself, "why is she running for $12.5K?" She's working great and appears to have more talent than the rest of this field. What am I missing?
Race 8 - #4 Sugar Bolt (6-1) Not sure if she can win, but at least I know I'll be in the mix down the stretch. Being able to yell at the tv as they approach the wire is worth a couple of bucks, right?
Race 9 - #7 Grit & Glory (10-1) Hasn't had a lot of success at Churchill as a 3 yr old but was consistently backed at the windows. I'm guessing we get fair value today for a gelding that absolutely belongs at this level.
Race 10 - #4 Lady Grace (9-2) Casse has been snake-bitten this meet (currently 1 for 31) but I'll back this filly who has the breeding and the talent. But damn, she's burnt a lot of money.
Best of luck to all the horse players!
