I bought a 55" Sony XBR 4 years ago. Really liked it and bought the same model (65") 2 years later. I would have bought a 75 at the time but 2 years ago, i was an extra $1,400

I think you can now buy it at costco for under a grand.

I am looking at SONY or SAMSUNG. I LIKE THE SONY 900 SERIES.

Bengals, if you are looking for a 55 inch, Sony XBR-55A9G (around $2,800) is about as good as it gets. For
a lessor price, I would recommend LG OLED55B9PUA (around $1,595).

We folks in Alabama don't have television yet but if we did I'd buy one of the above (55 inch). People in south
Florida are big shits with their TV's and all.

46 inch: Samsung QN49Q70R ($1,000)
40 inch: Sony XBR-43X800G ($600) can't go wrong with either.

I have three 40 inch TVs in the same room and love them for sports watching.

Agreed,

Looking back now, i should have spent the extra $$ on the 75"

Bengals, i'm happy with my xbr. I have an xbr 850C 55"

Actually bought it open box and saved about $200.

I like android tv's as they have a bunch of cool apps and its linked to my gmail account

Best or affordable?

Best Samsung Q80 or Q90. Close 2nd Sony 950G (there are even better but they get too expensive for minimal gain)

Best for the money Sony 900F then 2nd Samsung Q70

Of course IMO, good luck!

Depends what you are using it for, sports or movies? How much 4k?
I have a 55" Samsung 8 series 2160 (non qled) in the bedroom and it is every bit as good (and sometimes better) as my 7 series QLED for 95% of what I watch, at less than half the price. I love my 8 series, for the money it's my favorite TV I've ever owned.

What I've learned:
QLED not really worth it unless you watch a ton of 4k/HDR content
Samsung is the better value buy than Sony
If you go with a Samsung 2160p you have to at least spring for an 8 series. I've had 6 and 7 before and it's worth moving up to the 8.

Samsung Q8 QLED here and I wouldn’t trade it for anything else. Samsung is the way to go for TVs for me...

The 8 series is worth the extra couple hundo over the 7 series, but the 9 series isn’t, at least for me...

To me the big jump in their 2160 (non QLED) range is from 7 to 8 due to double the refresh rate that makes sports smoother
In QLED I found the most worthwhile jump to be from 6 to 7 as the 6 is edge lit and the 7 has the local dimming
Opted for size and got a bigger 7 series QLED vs an 8.
Nice TVs though. Samsung is the way to go IMO. LG OLEDs are nicer but not 3x nicer as cost would indicate.
If money is no object it's OLED, otherwise Samsung.
If budget is super tight I'd got 2160 8 series, otherwise 7 or 8 series QLED for mid-range budget.

I’ll never buy another LG, I switched from Samsung to LG on my tv before this one. It cost double and it lasted 5 years and went poof. Never again. I do like my LG washer and dryer and fridge, though.

On my QLED, the 6 and 7 were edge lit, you had to jump to the 8 to get full-array LED backlighting. It’s worth it...

That sucks. I only ever bought one LG and it was a 1080 non-smart old school like 8 years ago and it's still going strong hanging in my garage.
LG w/d here as well, Samsung fridge and dishwasher
Two great brands in most respects.

Ahh, the Q70R is now full array
Agreed that is necessary if going QLED to get the most out of your HDR

We are in a transition period .
Most of this stuff will be obsolete in 3 years or at least not cutting edge .

Micro LED is about to hit the market .
It has all the positives of oled with none of the negatives .

double the contrast ratio of the most expensive oled with no burnin .

And the technology has the potential to be made at a cheaper price then oled .

I have oled and pioneer plasma .
Basically the 2 most highly rated TVs you can buy .

The pio still can’t be beat for anything not broadcast in 4K which is about 99% of the time.

The oled is awesome to but can’t quite hit the brightness of a high level led but the blacks make up for it .

but screen burnin is a real thing.

Especially for sports fans who watch things like ESPN with the score ticket at the bottom of the screen all the time .

I had several times where my screen almost burnt in permanently and had to spend hrs whitewashing the screen to get it off.
Ive had several close calls.

To he honest for the money you spend on it it’s not something I enjoy having to deal with
