First it was Judge with shoulder soreness

Now Severino

He felt discomfort last night and still this morning in his right forearm. Being shut down until he can see a doctor tomorrow and determine problem. MRIs in December and February were clean. But continuing soreness.

Opening Day is 5 weeks from today. Even if Severino gets a clean bill of health he’s far enough behind that it puts start of season in doubt.

Boone deferred on that question until Severino is seen by doctor tomorrow.

Cashman said Severino has been prescribed anti-inflammatory meds and rest. He won’t see Dr Ahmad tomorrow, as Boone had said. Cashman said this is “an unknown” and he doesn’t know if it’s a short term or long term issue.

Boone said Severino will go to NY on Monday and stay for 3 days to undergo a battery of tests.

Dr Chris Ahmad examined Severino today, but Severino didn’t undergo any new tests in Tampa.

The regular season means very little to the NYY. They will win their division with ease even if they lose guys like Judge and Severino for long stretches.

The playoffs are what matters, thus the addition of Cole
