Recent report shows BIG 10 nearing 2 bil. in spending. Ohio State which fields more teams and more athletes than any other BIG10 school tops the list at 221 million, follwed by Michigan at 191 mil., Penn St at 160 mil. Purdue is at the bottom at 102 mil. Northwestern, a private school, did not report it's spending.
All schools except Maryland and Rutgers were able to cover costs from athletic monies. Maryland used 12.4 mil from student fees and another 13.2 mil from it's "institutional fund" to cover athletic costs, 23% of it's 108.8 mil spent.
Rutgers spent 12.2 mil from student fees and 13.7 mil from "other institutional" monies to cover it's 103.2 mil spending.
