What is going to happen when players test positive? Or maybe coaches? Will this virus fade away this summer or continue to spread? Will games be cancelled?
Looks like this shit isn't going away anytime soon. Is it overblown?

Will 2020 see a big drop in attendance?

March Madness should give us an idea of what to expect. Also the summer Olympics.

Will be interesting to say the least.

The Ivy League has shut down spring practice because of the Coronavirus concerns.

The conference is hoping to continue practice sometime next month after evaluating
the situation.

Personally, I think the whole thing is overhyped. Cautious yes...but some of the messaging
is presented for tv ratings and political purposes.

I lived in the Vegas area last 10 years, recently moved several states away. If any place would be a hub for a virus Vegas is it. People from all over the world travel to Vegas. Right now they have 5 confirmed cases, all folks from the U.S. That's far less than I would imagine, not that bad. Many large casino buffets are closing. This virus is going to slam Vegas business!!!

Can this be contained/controlled? Let's hope so!

At first I too believed this to be overhyped. But now...……..if this thing takes off hospitals will be overwhelmed. Seems it hits the older generation the worst.

20% unemployment is going to have TEN times the affect that the actual virus has....and it can get there in a hurry if we get -5% gdp for Q2. All the numbers that economists are talking about on tv have the public’s faces just glazed over bc they can’t process it. Going from growth avg 2% to retraction of - 5% is just something beyond belief

After Katrina unemployment went to 11% in Louisiana, but double that and make it nationwide. When these workers lose their jobs there will not be jobs to go back to....and they will lose them quickly. Katrina is a great example but it is a very micro level of similar pain.... it’s just gonna be everywhere.

There will be no hiding and nobody to call for help and.....it will make all of you preppers who have ammo stacked up in your closets very wise.

After the cancellation of the spring and winter championships tournaments stemming from
concerns over the virus, the NCAA will grant an extra year of eligibility to athletes who par-
ticipate in spring sports and is considering the same for winter sports. Nice move by the
NCAA.

I hope it doesn't come to this! It is going to be devastating, even if this is resolved within a few weeks. I'm hoping we get back to normal by late May, early June...but even then, there will be a ton of people out of work, especially at the blue-collar wage level. It may take a few years to fully recover from this, IF it gets resolved sooner than later.

If i'm an athlete who has NO chance of becoming a pro, i'm ECSTATIC!!

Thats another year of a FREE education and being taken care of and NOT having to be in the "real world".

I have a few friends who's kids are high school baseball players and they are seniors. Many of them are going to the next level (some even drafted) and they feel bad that they cant enjoy their senior seasons

In 2009 the H1N1 virus was detected in California, testing was started and containment attempted. Halfway through that pandemic the testing was halted. 60 million Americans were estimated as infected. Killed 12,000-18,000 Americans in the younger age groups. If you Google it you will find college football was greatly affected by this virus. Life went on.

Now we have COVID, a much deadlier virus, especially to the older groups. My findings are 2 out of 100 infected die. The huge majority are over 60 years of age or underlying health issues. Of ALL the college football positive tests we have seen how many have spent time in a hospital?? If even ONE does go to the hospital you can bet your ass the media will cover it like flies on a shithouse door. Have not seen it happen yet. Not one. Here in Michigan the last time I looked (today) we had 6422 deaths. Ages 0-29 have ZERO deaths. Certainly we do not want to spread the virus but all this hoopla that we will kill football players seems a bit far fetched. If they don't play football what are their chances of contracting the virus vs playing football? Do you think college age folks are locking down, social distancing?
What I am seeing is teams that don't do well on the field seem to have the most trouble controlling the spread. Now Clemson players tested positive upon arrival for workouts, but Michigan State had two members of staff test positive and then 17 players. Sounds like bad protocol to me. Rutgers just had a bunch who tested positive, they were all at a party!
I am losing hope for a season, more due to politics than science. And the behavior of the avg college age student.

I think handicapping is going to be a NIGHTMARE this season.

I always find it fun and relaxing (even if i stink at it) to cap games but i have no clue how i'm going to cap this season
