Race 1
There is absolutely NO speed in this race. If Whitney takes JAMMER up front they'll never pass him in the stretch. But, that's enough of an "if" that I won't back him at less than 3-1.

If SPORTIN PHIL doesn't get left behind early, he'll be looking good in the winners circle. Loved the wide rally in his last.

Race 5
The last two efforts at 5.5 have been very good for TAKE THE CITY. Back to back wins might be asking a bit much of the 9 yr old, but there really isn't much to beat here.

cerveza,

took a quick look at the program from the 5th at mountaineer (no form or pps) and it looks like the geritol cup. i've never seen so many old horses before- is the race written for 7 yos and up, claiming price $4k??

yeah, if you see LE next to their name in the program it means "running with Lasix and Ensure".

Can you believe that f-ing Birzer? he had the race and let that horse lose interest - never saw the 1 on the rail. I may never bet that prick again!
OK, feel better now...

Race 6
ESTARGEE will appreciate the extra ground and the fast surface. Has been working well for a competent trainer and gets the juice (Lasix, not Ensure). Luckily we also get Pereira this time and not Birzer.

I really, really like RURAL ROAD. Hoping for 3-1 or better.

Just hoping not to get

by the racing gods who have had their way with me today from all the "sure bets" that missed at Woodbine, to all the longshots that I second guessed myself out of

Rural wins and pays nearly $7 to win.

That helped me out.
I stared down a $44 winner at Woodbine today but passed on it due to a rookie error.....toteboard odds scared me.......then I followed up with another bonehead move and another strong payout.

I guess there comes a time when your handicapping skills find "gems" that the masses miss entirely. All too often I am seeing this and it shows with the multitude of $10+ payouts for winners.
Oh well, chalk it up to the learning curve

As usual, look forward to seeing your picks next racing day
