He looked awful last year and I've never been a fan but the dude was like a hostage in that situation. Just so many brutal losses, such a horrible team situation that maybe he can be rejuvenated in Indy for a year or two. elite OL, playing indoors.

Better than Brissett.

Yea, a better offensive line giving him more time in the pocket would certainly help. I think he will do real well there

Colts better not pipe in that dome noise when he is on the field. The way he reacts in hurry up situations in conjunction with that might give him a seizure.

Rivers retiring, he had a weird career, his best teams were when he was younger and they took some tough losses to NE. After that SD mostly became irrelevant and he just kinda did his solid QB thing for 6-7 years.

I don’t think he should be in the HOF unless they wanna rename it to the Hall of Very Good but can’t say I care one way or the other

He’s on the Mt Rushmore of QBs to never play in a Super Bowl w/ Fouts/Moon

Rivers is a tough call for HOF
Hall of fame numbers but something is missing .

Hes this eras version of Dave Krieg to me .
I think Krieg retired top 5 all time in passing yards but just not a HOFer

This is the signature game of his career, right? A 2nd round win @ defending champ Indy in which he played very well. And even in this game, he was hurt so didn't finish the 4th quarter, Billy Volek led the 4th Q touchdown drive in Indy to win it. Seems like it isn't even close as I reviewed all his playoff games (there's like 7 or 8 so this took about 5 minutes)

I guess playing w/ a torn ACL @ NE the next week is the game people remember, but considering the Chargers scored 12pts, not sure that was that much of a great Rivers memory as much as a gritty performance.

Old Man Rivers and his sidearm low trajectory duck throws retiring. Good decision Phillip would have been really embarrassing if he returned for another year.

Between 2006 and 2009 he had so much talent around him and accomplished pretty much nothing.

Imagine having this backfield.

4. (young) Darren Sproles eventual Pro Bowler
3. Lorenzo Neal 4 time Pro Bowl fullback
2. Michael Turner 2 time Pro Bowler
1. Ladanian Tomlison Gazzilion time Pro Bowler

He also had Antonio Gates, Vincent Jackson, Chris Chambers and 3 Pro Bowlers on the O-line

And the D wasnt too shabby either

This post just proved why he's not a HOF.

Wouldn't say accomplished nothing, they lost to eventual SB champs in '08...Lost to NE in '06 and '07 (Rivers was not really a very good QB yet. '06 was his first year starting and '07 NE 1 of the best teams ever)

'09 vs Jets Nate Kaeding blew that game for them.

Then from '10-forever he was just kinda irrelevant, just a weird career. Can't remember anyone else like it. Like he was in purgatory or something. Of course, some of the lack of team success for SD during this decade obviously had a lot to do with him. The sports media/fans couldn't even really be bothered to critique him though because it was the Chargers so who cares.

^^^

He did beat P Manning in the playoffs 2x in this span. Perhaps if Kaeding didn't miss all those FG's, he could've gone for the hat trick in '09 but alas, we'll never know.
