So maybe people with flu symptoms (or everyone) should start wearing masks & practicing "social distancing" & other safety measures (e.g. getting annual flu shots) instead of going to work & riding on crowded mass transit etc?

This virus is unbelievabley sad. I understand it's going to be a big party once a vaccine is found and life returns to normal for a lot of us....but we also shouldn't forget the ones we lost and to the many whom life will never truly be the same...

"According to studies, two children, a 10-month-old infant and a 14-year-old boy, died in China after being infected with the novel coronavirus.

The 10-month-old infant who died had a preexisting condition. The child experienced multi-organ failure and died four weeks after being admitted to a hospital in Wuhan, according to research published last week in the New England Journal of Medicine.

The 14-year-old boy from Hubei province died February 7. No further details were available on his death, which was reported in a study published last week in Pediatrics that looked at 2,143 children with confirmed or suspected coronavirus.

The number quoted for the flu death rate is the number of deaths over the population of the US. That is wrong. As with the current virus, the formula is deaths per diagnosed cases. We will move on to second grade math in our next lesson. As Dr Birix indicated, 90% of deaths occurred in people over 60 with, at least, three underlying conditions. Three is greater than one or two.
