ah, the post-del mar, pre-fairplex depression is officially setting in. final two days of the summer meeting. i'm officially bummed.

r1: sea of silver. should go much better in his second truf start, adding blinkers for baffert. he's 2/1 in the early wagering; if he stays there, i'm on cloud 9.

r2: last kiss. should be a decent price on this class dropping daughter of slews royalty. 'kiss ran evenly in her comeback against much better and now meets a fairly weak bunch. if there's anything in the tank, she should show it here.

r5: go yoyo. patrick on a pace horse. sounds like a recipe for success to me.

r6: pioneerman. you can count on one hand how many times i've put my money on omar berrio. today will be one of those times- i think don'tsellmeshort will be overbet with patrick and the big beyer. pioneerman has a ton of speed and should go very well drawing outside his main rival.

r7: california casual. we'll get a good price on this live longshot for julie krone as she stretches out off an even fourth place finish. by avenue of flags out of a mill reef mare. seems like she has the running style of a horse who will appreciate two turns and the field contains exactly zero world-beaters.

r8: unamedthegame. let's try to end the day with a bit of a price as this gelded son of the precocious musique d'enfer comes back for jorge gutierrez. he doesn't have a ton of speed, which is not good, and he's parked on the far outside, also not good, but this is a field of quitters and perennial losers, so i'm taking a flyer here.

3/2 on sea of silver. hard to get too excited about a $5 payoff, but that was even easier that it looked.

thanks for the props, tahoe. i usually take a long siesta during fairplex, but will make an occassional play or two from fairplex and will concentrate on out of town races, particularly at belmont and arlington.

just an aside, that was a terrible, terrible disqualification of grinding out. the stewards at del mar are a joke.

i've just seen another horrible dq at bay meadows. they took down a horse for crossing and clearing at the 3/8ths pole in the fifth at bay meadows. absolutely ridiculous. i'd love to find out if these stewards are "clean". preposterous.
