Biggest factor in CFB returning this fall?

The biggest question looming over the collegiate athletics landscape is a simple one:
Will there be college football in the fall? The potential start of the season is nearly 5
months away, with teams scheduled to begin reporting for training camp in 4 months.
For those looking for signs of the return of CFB, the most important decision dictating
that decision appears to be the return of students to actual colleges.

"With school not in session, I don't believe it is practical or proper to have intercollegiate
athletics," Clemson athletic director Dan Radakovich. Seems most ADs and Presidents agree
that it sends mixed messages telling students to stay home and athletes to come to campus.

Summer school would be a nice start...…………………….

Alabama's athletic director said the school was going to everything possible to play this season.

Now, whether he was just shooting from the hip...I don't know.

I will be looking at teams that have a lot of returning starters, since there is no spring football.

I'm looking at double digit G5 dogs returning a lot of starters playing big name schools who dont have a lot of returning O-lineman/D-lineman, and QB.

There should be 5-10 of these kind of games in september wouldnt we think? I could see this trend go 7-3 or better (pure speculation)

FYI, Do not expect a full college football season in 2020.

BEST Cast: Camps open early August, Season starts Mid-Sept, 10 games, 11 max.
LIKELY Case: Camps open late August, Season starts early October, 8-9 games, some states no football, neutral games
WORST Case: See you all in 2021.

These are the facts, and comes from two credible sources. Wish the USA the best.

If 2020 season is played would think teams with new coaching staffs, especially OC's and DC's would have a disadvantage with shorter prep period to install different schemes.

Knowing that he came to Clemson from Georgia Tech, I have to laugh at Radakovich saying this. For years Tech was on the quarter system and played two or three games before the students cam back to campus. I believe Oregon starts it's football season before classes start. I don't know about other schools, but playing when school is not in session is hardly a radical idea. The alumni and locals can go the games, and the games can be televised without the students being there. Why let the perfect be the enemy of the good?

I recall watching a Stanford game in September and there was no crowd b/c wasn’t in session yet.

I wonder if that is a good handicapping tool to bet against teams at home when school isn’t in session when the student body takes up a big number of seats??

i know in college hoops, some arenas look dead when it’s spring break

come may.. things will be restarting

I hope and pray you are right buster.......No college football on a Saturday afternoon during the Fall would be devastating.

I remember as a little kid how major league baseball was played during world war ll (the 1942-43 and 44 seasons) at the insistence of the POTUS to help maintain the Nations moral here on the home front, the rosters were filled with older players too old for the draft but at least there were baseball games.

I'm certain there are a lot of people staying up late at night trying to come up with a contingency plan for the 2020 college football season if this virus lingers.

Sometimes I have to get up during the "wee hours" to do you know what, I thought I would check in with my friends and see what's going on in the college football world during these terrible times.

Glad you are well Knightrofins , stay well my friend and keep the faith.

Saw in the news where the Texas A. & M Chancellor said that an October start of the 2020 season could allow for a 13 game schedule,
that would be packing it in through the month of December, the usual time for bowl games.

I saw someone state that college football will try to start on time, but if they don't, it will be late fall or early spring next year.......I don't see it starting early spring, but late fall would make sense.

Start the season mid October, or first week of Nov & it goes thru Jan, then the bowls start miildfle of Feb, & go thru to early March for the big bowls, now I rather have this situation.

I know football is the money maker but what do we do about other sports? Are we playing football/hoops/baseball/other all at once?

If baseball started in July, just play half a season, & then.playoffs like usual......NBA imo should be cancelled, consider it a lost season, & the new season starts middle of October anyway, just focus on the new NBA season......same goes for NHL.

NFL can start on time, if they wanted to wait, they could also start a month late, in October some time & play an entire season & have the playoffs in Feb & the super bowl in the first week of March

Imo, there is no problem for the NFL or college football.

The only thing I can think of for NBA & NHL is as the teams stand right now & their current records, lay out the playoff teams as of now, & start the playoffs in July......that's even if they want to save some of the season, but I don't think they will get many fans, & that's understandable with social distancing.

I meant to say college sports. Will we have too many seasons going on at the same time?

I think NBA and NHL finish out their seasons. They'll just delay next season (maybe until xmas) and have a shortened season next year.

For NBA, let them play in vegas with no fans. Put 4 games a day in the arena. Would be fun!! Same for hockey
