Are we really defining essential businesses properly ?

I know this will be unpopular.....

liquor stores are essential but things like seeing your dentist, eye doctor, etc. are not as important, and get cancelled

maybe filling stations should charge 20 cents more a gallon if don't pay at the pump ?

perhaps order your groceries from a Walmart online sort of place and just pull up and never get out of your car, let them load it, or order stuff online for now

Banks are kinda closed mainly but hardware, appliance stores open,

very much like something out of a Stephen King novel/movie

My dentist appt. was cancelled.

I need a haircut bad.

And I haven't been to the gym in almost a month. Using dumbells at home is not the same as lifting heavy weights at the gym for 1-2 hours.

Open up the gyms and let people sign up for one hour blocks of time. Let 10-20 people in at a time, depending on the size of the gym. Then let the employees clean up before the next group comes in.

Not being able to go the gym is affecting me in a negative way. They should be considered an essential business.

Haven't really heard much about dentists in all of this. Are most of them closed up for the time being?

I can understand putting off cleaning teeth and all that. But what if someone has severe tooth pain (knock on wood) and needs some immediate attention? Hopefully dentists are at least taking those type of appointments that need immediate attention.

yeah they will take you somewhow if got in a car accident and smashed up your teeth bad on the steering wheel, might involve going to a hospital or something.

Some of this hard to believe, but it is all true. In Nevada, liquor stores are closed, but pot dispensaries are open. The original essential business order was decreed on St Patrick's Day, but TODAY they finally added golf courses to the must close list. You can't get a haircut, but you can go to the chiropractor. If you are a hair stylist, you cannot go to someone's home and cut their hair. Meanwhile, the whole state has had 80 deaths and the hospitals are empty. On Sunday, if a church holds an onsite service, the pastor will be arrested.

but in Vegas every supermarket and Sav-on type drug store is a 24 hour liquor store, at least when I lived there circa 1989-1996

UR right...supermarkets still selling liquor. They just can't sell any of the self-serve or deli food. You can also get a bottle of wine with a togo order from restaurants which have a liquor license and choose to sell. Tennis was also outlawed today.

In, Ct supermarkets can only sell beer and wine coolers, with limited hours, and you go to a package store for liquor, usually one next to every supermarket

My understanding with deli here, is they make up some packages of commonly sold/ sale stuff, put it in a refrig case, and you buy from that, no custom orders

In Vancouver liquor stores are open & considered essential. Almost all else is shutdown. Not sure if that applies to all of Canada.

It seems slighty F-ed up to me when I can't go to optometrist to get an adjustment on my eyeglasses, but 50 metres away , I can buy a bottle of vodka, no problem.

I drink, don't want the package stores closed, but it seems weird to me !

many more examples exist, that one stands out to me !

I'm sure every Province and big city like Toronto within a Province makes it up to their discretion, much like our State's Rights, and cities within states with various laws.

I quit smoking long ago, but it can be legal to buy tobacco at 18-21 depending on location, 21 everywhere for liquor now .

Closing down tennis courts and golf courses is just stupid. If there was ever two sports that you could keep distance from each other, those would be it. Hell, you could be easily 50 feet from each other and play golf. These a-holes are making up rules as they go.

Hair salons, gun shops, fast food, quick Mart stores.... everything is still open where I'm at, and it's total nonsense.

Lock everyone down.
