As I browse through the myriad of posts and have a chuckle over some of the sources used and claimed to be credible, I'm reminded of how little trust people have in the media. Those that have a great level of trust are in the minority at this point. And although polls have their own set of problems, I would think you would find most will fairly consistently come up with the same results in regarding to trusting the media. And yet, so many here will site their sources as the end-all-be-all, and argue for pages at how what they are looking at (which is nothing more than confirmation bias for them) is the gospel.

Both Republicans and Democrats were less likely to trust news sources with a partisan reputation that opposes their own. However, they did not express much greater trust in news sources that have a reputation for a partisan leaning consistent with their own.
How many people hear a news story and simply look at it with a critical eye, asking questions as to why it was presented a certain way and whether it makes sense? In addition, how many actively seek out a contrary viewpoint for no other reason than to see if they really have a valid counterpoint and if their convictions are valid?
I often wonder how the news would be if it was just presented without commentary and you were left to your own devices to determine what made sense and what was valid.
