[h=1]City ends face-mask rule for shoppers after store employees are threatened[/h]

The mayor of an Oklahoma city amended an emergency declaration requiring customers to wear face masks while inside businesses after store employees were threatened with violence.
Stillwater Mayor Will Joyce announced the change Friday afternoon, less than 24 hours after the declaration took effect.
“In the short time beginning on May 1, 2020, that face coverings have been required for entry into stores/restaurants, store employees have been threatened with physical violence and showered with verbal abuse," City Manager Norman McNickle said in a statement. "In addition, there has been one threat of violence using a firearm."

"I hate that our businesses and their employees had to deal with abuse today, and I apologize for putting them in that position," the mayor wrote.

"The wearing of face coverings is little inconvenience to protect both the wearer and anyone with whom they have contact," McNickle said, condemning those who threatened violence. "It is unfortunate and distressing that those who refuse and threaten violence are so self-absorbed as to not follow what is a simple show of respect and kindness to others.

StevieRay,

I'm dealing with the same mindset on our neighborhood app of people insisting everyone wear a mask (but none of these people would ever say anything to people in public here). And by mindset, I don't mean threats to others but rather this moral superiority of thinking they can tell others how to live their lives while ignoring the financial hardship that has been placed on others. The fact of the matter is temperatures are currently in the mid 90's here and in a couple of months, we will be getting into the 100's with humidity. It's funny to me that these pinheads can't seem to understand that wearing a mask makes it hard for one to breath and is extremely hot (nevermind the fact that most people are reusing these and making themselves sick with the bacteria being formed). They also give many of these uninformed people a false sense of security (one lady claimed a family was coughing it up right in front of her, but thank god she had her trusty mask). I can pretty much guarantee when we get into the 100's, people will be shedding these masks (shy of going into air conditioned stores). My wife had one on a couple of weeks ago on a walk (it was in the high 80s) and she couldn't last 10 minutes.

Now let's cue the Useful Idiot response...."but it's better than dying" face)(*^%
