Has anyone even attempted to book any flights at the end of summer or early fall? Normally if you book that far in advance, you can find some pretty good deals. And then with demand being lower, you'd think maybe the deals would be even better. But that's not the case at all. In fact, prices all seem to be much higher unless you're willing to travel over the next 30 to 40 days. I can only assume it's because they are limited as to the capacity on their flights.

SWA flying crosscountry TPA > PDX early October about 25% cheaper than early June

Also they are currently offering the full range of 11 daily flights in October while only offering three in June

I'll be curious to see if this is a regional thing. I'm not seeing anything discounted at all beyond that 6 week range on any of our low cost airlines (ie Southwest, Frontier). Southwest hasn't been good for quite some time. I know they used to try and lock in on gas prices. Perhaps they got into a bad contract as obviously gas is Dirt Cheap right now.

I'm not sure where that stands now in different states but I'm pretty sure that was a voluntary thing anyway. It's not like you had a monitoring device on you.

IDK...maybe it's regional. I see nothing sub $100 one way to Vegas regardless of which day you fly. That was like for the next 3-4 months (that's starting in mid June and beyond), which is pretty unusual.

If you're looking to go to Vegas & don't wanna have a lot of people around, this summer would be it......but I doubt there will beuch do in activities. I think the better time would be in Sept or Oct

Fares are cheaper across the board. And pretty much risk free.

You can cancel if your trip won't meet your expectations. You will get a credit for future travels.

Iv'e rolled 3 or so trips into 3 or 4 other ones. Miles back into my account. From Aruba. To Hawaii. Nixed both of those.

Now sitting on a trip to the South. Hilton Head/Savannah/Charleston in late July. Trying to save a family summer vacation. Figured I'd look to the South for a VACA. If the SEC will play football, they might have some beaches and hotels open.

Vegas was just one city I checked, but thought it was odd that there were no decent deals. Southwest from June through September has all flights no matter which day of the week you fly at either $161 or $165 one way. That's not typical. Summer is usually one of the cheapest times to fly and you can normally find some $79 fares. Just seems odd to me, but maybe it's something regional. It's definitely not cheaper flying from Austin.

Just put in October. Same deal (cheapest o/w is $161 no matter what day). Not one discounted fare and that's as far as they go. Same thing if I want to visit my grandkids. Every day of the week is the same through October. Just weird.

I'm just going to have to assume it's regional and possibly that we're not a hub because a lot of you guys are clearly finding great rates. Maybe Dallas is where the better fares are in my region, but no one would drive that far for a fare.

A few days ago when checking out flights , Spirit had RTs from Portland to Vegas for $42 in June. .seems like their schedules were condensed down. 3 flights daily were before virus. Now only 1 on certain days. Passed for now. Probably target August for Supercontest signup weekend assuming its happening ..big if..
