The sad truth is that this list will be very long before this crap is finally over.

I know we don't care about small businesses for the purposes of this thread but they are going to fall in record numbers.

I get sick thinking about what our "leaders" are doing to us.

Their cluelessness has never been more apparent.

Just watch last nights 60 Minutes to see how the system missed small farmers, but did well for sharp lawyers.

Unscrupulous lawyers are jumping up and down right now. They have only begun to find ways that they can sue.

Thank our "leaders" for not being able see to layer two of their actions, much less layers three, four and beyond.

They are breaking the country. Not the virus. The leaders.

Neiman Marcus To File For Bankruptcy As Lockdowns Hammer Department Stores: Report, Neiman Marcus borrowed nearly $4.8 billion, according to credit ratings firm Standard & Poor’s, some of which is due to the $6 billion leveraged buyout in 2013 by its owners. Other major department stores are fighting to delay Neiman Marcus’s fate.

    This one made me cringe
Reuters: Chesapeake Energy preparing bankruptcy filing .Someone at the The Vanguard Group, Inc. is getting fired and is applying for job as Racktrack.

Hertz is preparing for a possible bankruptcy filing, a report says, after the vehicle rental giant failed to make lease payments due to the coronavirus shutdown. This is a very badly run company no supprise here.

Its a new business world, all of you lazy people who thought you jobs where safe, and you did a shit job , and complained about your job, you don'y have one to goto any more.

Norwegian Cruise Line warns of possible bankruptcy amid coronavirus outbreak

PORT CANAVERAL, Fla. (WESH) — A recent filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission from Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings LTD describes financial problems due to COVID 19 and indicates it is possible the company will have to file for bankruptcy.

The filing, dated May 5, says the company will need additional financing moving forward.

The company said there’s “substantial doubt” about its ability to continue as the coronavirus pandemic continues to keep the entire cruise industry shuttered.

“Our financial statements contain a statement regarding a substantial doubt about the company’s ability to continue as a going concern,” the company says in the filing.

The company writes about the need for money: “We anticipate needing additional financing, and such financing may not be available on favorable terms, or at all.”

The documents paint a possible future for the company: “If we are not able to fulfill our liquidity needs through operating cash flows and/or borrowings under credit facilities or otherwise in the capital markets, our business and financial condition could be adversely affected and it may be necessary for us to reorganize our company in its entirety, including through bankruptcy proceedings, and our shareholders may lose their investment in our ordinary shares.”

The cruise industry brings in millions in revenue to Port Canaveral and surrounding areas, but the industry has been halted due to the coronavirus since mid-March.

It's a bit tempting to take a shot at 25 cents.

Creative..I'm not sure I've seen a plan like this before..Sears sorta used their property holdings in a few different ways but never like this...Part I don't get is why they would think there would be demand lease wise these days..meaning who would buy the REITs?

Of this total $1,450,000 was received as a salary, $1,405,050 was received as a bonus, $567,663 was received in stock options, $5,635,758 was awarded as stock and $79,891 came from other types of compensation."

Re: Hertz, I am surprised that they have lasted this long.

My wife and gone on flights to quite a few cities over the years.

Lets just say that when we have rervedour package plans which includes rental cars, we have NEVER looked at Hertz for the

simple reason than their daily and weekly charges are in some cases double what the low priced car rentals charge.

Imo Hertz has always been for the most part for people traveling on business where the company picks up the tab in any event.

Because of the Virus and very few of these folks traveling, imo it is quite obvious as to why they are failing(in addition to the outrageous

salaries that Bozzie pointed out that i was not aware of).

Sears. JC Penny. Two companies I grew up with and seemed just too strong to ever die away as quickly as it seems.

I might throw a few disposable bones on JC Penny as a lottery ticket. At some point these dinosaurs have to fight back with living DNA and get reinvented to survive. They saw SEARS go down and had to have some sort of plan or foresight, right?
