Harness racing vs throughbreds

Why does everyone here favor the throughbreds over harness racing? For me harness racing is much easier to handicap. The distance is always a mile. There are no changes in surface ( turf vs the regular track). The horses usually stay at the same track for a while not just ship in for a race and disappear.

that's what makes thoroughbred racing so challenging and rewarding- more variables to solve for in the big puzzle. and most importantly, the mutuel pools are usually much much smaller at a typical harness track than at the big thoroughbred tracks.

I like to plat The Meadowlands, There are always large fields and the pools seem to be as good as any major throughbred track. I admit some of the smaller harness tracks are a joke but then some of the smaller throughbred tracks are too.

On the surface, Harness is easier to cap...........but then when you have picked the key horse and laid $200 on him to rout, the driver gets himself boxed in on the third turn and the pack shuffles him to last place!!!!!
Never see that with thoroughbreds!!!

At least a key Thoroughbred can split the pack and do his thing. So much can happen in Harness. It takes so much more to makethat "perfect" trip other than simply a "ready" horse and a good ride. When was the last time the Wheels fell off on Wando?>?? lmao

Good luck to both of you - it's a tough game on both sides of that fence.

That's why I like The Meadowlands. Good Horses, Cood Drivers, and plenty of room to race.

I play both.

I win more harness races but make more money at the runners.

At the harness I very seldom look past the top four drivers at a track. You have to stay out of trouble to have a chance.
