Armed citizens in Minneapolis stood guard against looters who ravaged the city Wednesday night over the death of George Floyd.

Two bearded men with long rifles strapped to their chests told a reporter for the Minnesota Reformer outside a tobacco shop that they supported the protests but not the violence that came with them.

“Basically you see the records that cops keep. And cops are a lot less likely to try and tread on people’s rights when there’s other armed Americans with them,” one of the men says in a video taken by the reporter, Max Nesterak. “I figured it’s about damn time that some heavily armed rednecks stood with fellow citizens.”

The man said the day before they showed up armed at the original protest site where Floyd, a black man, died after a white Minneapolis police officer kneeled on his neck as Floyd told him, “I can’t breathe.”

A second armed man told the Minnesota Reformer he and his friend had been roaming the city to see which store owners needed help.

“It turns out these guys are out here with machetes and shattered windows trying to keep looters out of the businesses ’cause cops can’t get in here,” the man in sunglasses says, as two other armed men wearing face masks appear in the video.

“So I figured before there were cops, there were just Americans, so here we are. Bottom line, justice for Floyd and I hope they stop looting at some point.”

Mayhem broke out across Minneapolis Wednesday night, with looters breaking into shops, including Target, and torching buildings.

Protesters also vandalized the Minneapolis Police Department’s 3rd Precinct, where the four cops involved in Floyd’s death are believed to have worked. All four have been fired.

I think its great what these guys did but it was a disgrace that the Governor didn't dispatch the National Guard immediately to keep law and order. Peaceful protesting is an American right. Looting businesses, burning and rioting is not. The governor should have enacted martial law, imposed a strict curfew, and created safe areas for protestors that wish to peacefully protest. All others that were not protesting peacefully should be dealt with harshly. I have no problem with a business owner using deadly force to protect its business. 3,000 national guardsmen could keep law and order. This is unacceptable and while I am sympathetic to the family of this individual who was murdered by the police, the tactics used by the protestors make me block out their message.

You do realize martial law hasn't been declared in a state since 1961 right? Not even during the Rodney King riots, 9/11, Ferguson, MO etc.

You go from 0 MPH to 90 MPH in an instant Kenny. Slow down lad.

You must be my long lost brother. This is exactly how I feel.

The more these clowns run rampant and nothing gets done about it, the more it decays our society.

By refusing to arrest and charge the killers of George Floyd, the state of Minnesota is pretty much declaring all crime legal. Amazing that there are some people who think there could be no middle ground and the only other option to letting people freely kill citizens is martial law.

Wasn't just two "armed rednecks" it was them and their two buddies, who are black, standing right next to them. But the media doesn't even speak to their friends seemingly wanting to spin the locked and loaded redneck narrative. Four guys trying to do what they can to help protect people and local business from chaos, MSM looking to spin divisiveness wherever they can.

You can't rush murder charges bro. I know America's youth is used to instant gratification but rushing a Federal investigation led by the FBI is bad news and the guy could potentially walk free.

The police had no problem rushing an arrest for George Floyd with far less evidence than their is for this killing. Then they had no problem rushing an execution without any investigation.

People want justice over night and things don't work that way. We are better suited letting a thorough investigation take place so the charges stick. I believe justice will be served. There is too much at stake. I understand people are upset and the Constitution protects the right to peacefully protest but we cannot as a civilized society tolerate rioting and looting.

This is a very good point. When someone may have committed a crime, there should always be a thorough investigation. It is also very important to ensure constitutional rights are followed. Why did the police refuse to do any of that when the handcuffed and killed George Floyd?

Jesus Christ dude. A complaint of a forgery is just slightly different than a damn murder charge don't you think? Why do you guys always compare shit that isn't even close to being the same thing?

If this was a white guy nothing would be said. Sad it happened but happens to whites too, but different because he was black.

Cop has a history of bullshit. We need to quit making it black and white when it boils down to bad cops, they are out there. Are some racist? Yep, but doesn’t define all of them. Just like there are racist blacks.

Now this gives reason for the animals to be animals and justify their irrational behavior.

Loot get shot on the spot. It’s stop then

Great men right there!!! The rioting and looting is what you get when you have non-educated, ignorant people who are just garbage

They take an incident and use it to rob and loot. The police should be out in force and shoot a few of these scumbags
You would see this stop like that. By not doing anything the mayor is saying I don't care, go ahead and rob, steal, assault people

Need to show some force to these animals, put a few down and then they will get the message

I just heard from a police officer from St. Paul that the nice Jewish boys are throwing rocks and projectiles onto cars from highway overpasses. Fuck these protestors. Civilized people will lose sympathy for what started this. All looters should be shot.
